2015-2016 Programs by Discipline

For me, Eric acts it more than Meagan does. He gets a bit of the wild abandon you need for that song with certain head movements. She tends to look the same, smiling and fairly polished, but with no real interpretation of the music, in every performance.

True, but then neither struck me as having anything one could remotely describe as "a sense of humor" when I watched their two TSL interviews, so I doubt "wild abandon" is something one can expect to see from them. On an up note, there is a very very cool rotational lift which I hope they keep for the season (and increase it, if possible, by 1-2 additional rotations).

I am glad one of us seems to think Eric "acts it more" because to me they're both mechanical emotionally. Eric however has better carriage and interpretation through his movements. But he does not see or relate to Megan on the ice at all, so I find their music choice a bit strange. But if the judges are willing to give them the PCS regardless, more power to them, I guess.

According to Fuji TV, Kenji Miyamoto choreographed for these skaters this season.

Rika Hongo
FS Riverdance

Yuka Nagai
SP?? Madame Butterfly (Oh no, same as Mao's FS?)
I'm not sure about this one. It could be her FS, she might have changed it or we were given the wrong information to begin with because it's been already announced that Rachmaninov is her new SP.

Miyu Nakashio
SP Gopher Mambo

Miyabi Oba
FS Narnia

Sota Yamamoto
SP Poeta
FS Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto No. 1

Ryuju Hino
FS King Arthur (keeping from 2014-2015 season)

Taichiro Yamakuma
FS Mission

Sei Kawahara
SP Tango De Los Exiliados

I wish someone would skate to la bayadere...I know Alissa did a while ago, but it's been too long and that music is gorgeous

I agree that Eric's movements are much better but I think its more because they are balletic, not necessarily expressive. Neither of them interpret much emotion to me at all and once V/T come back I think it'll highlight that. I don't really think this music choice suits them at all. Also I hope they don't do the same ending pose as this video/last season's SP because it has no relation to the music. It's like "tada we are done!" rather than something meaningful, which based on this music choice, is what they are trying to show more of for next season.

I must admit, I am really curious about Rika's program this year, particular her SP by Akiko on Cirques du Soleil. It will also be interesting to see Charlie White's work.

We have Les Mis, Bolero, Turadot, More Madam butterfly. Very disappointed there's no POTO  Miyamoto must be the busiest choreographer in Japan, if not - the world! Sheesh.

Is "both programs by Miyamoto" a typo? I am excited about both Rika's programs as well, but more curious about Riverdance. I think she has enough spunk to pull it off.

I am not sure..i just copy and pasted. Someone will need to confirm. May be it is team work? It is kind of funny, Miyamoto has done so many, it might as well been him. Yes River Dance can be good fun, green costumes?

There was a Japanese TV program that showed Akiko working with Rika on the choreography of her SP, so the SP is Akiko's. And Rika skated the SP in the Dreams on Ice show, as did many other skaters of those that you mentioned in your post. I don't have time to search for links to that TV program and show videos right now, though (they were posted somewhere either on this forum, or on FSUniverse).

Maybe Miyamoto did a new EX for Rika too, and that ended up being phrased a little confusingly in that context? As others stated, the SP is from Akiko

Are we starting to think of the warhorses there'll be this season?

And just wanting to share, today marks a year since I joined GoldenSkate!

Turandot/Nessun Dorma, apparently. Max Aaaron, Shoma Uno, and Andrei Lazukin are all using it (and at least 1 girl and 1 dance team). I'm sure there will be more.

Congrats on your anniversary.

I mean I won't mind if Queen turns into a warhorse because there are a ton of songs by Queen to choose from unlike with POTO, it seems like they almost only choose one song from it. And same with Carmen.
