Have any dancers used this music in the past?

I don't know but skaters have used this piece and the most famous is the Pairs' Silver Medalist of the 1994 Olympics, Mishkutenok & Dmitriev. They skated their Free Dance to this piece and it was wonderful. I think this is one piece that suits C/B perfectly. Here's the performance: https://youtu.be/rgYzaXX8ft0

Here's Sergei Rachmaninoff playing the piece: https://youtu.be/x8l37utZxMQ .

Of course, I'm assuming this is the part of that piece that they will skate to. Unlike Mishkutenok who tended to skated stoically, Madison will be just the opposite and she and Bates being passionate skaters will have this piece showcased their passion and talent to the utmost. I can't wait how Najarro choreographed this piece which, I believe, is a complete departure to what he is used to but he's a consummate artist who, I think, is like most artist will not stop at nothing less challengingly fulfilling.

No news on Lipnitskaya's music? Im hoping she keeps last season's short program, I think it has a lot of potential

Loved that SP but she already said she's not going to keep it because she feels like she has outgrown, as in age and feelings, the program.

Roman Sadovsky's ISU bio says his LP is

Romeo and Juliette (Plunkett & Macleane soundtrack).

I wonder what is the meaning of including Plunkett & Macleane. According to IMDB, this soundtrack is also composed by Craig Armstrong. Could it be Mark Pillay mixed soundtracks from two movies or would "Romeo and Juliet" be just the main theme of the program?

BTW, I added all the. programs from JGP J&T Banka except those not in bios, I have yet to use Soundhound on.

Rach 2 has rarely been used in dance, I don't think it is justified to claim rach 2 as warhouse because a lot of single skaters use it.

A warhorse piece in FS is considered a music used a lot in FS, whether it's dance, pairs, ladies or men. Having said that it doesn't mean that a warhorse program can not be good or a masterpiece. We have many examples which confirm that: Masquerade Waltz from V&T, Carmen V&M, Carmen I&Z are the most recent examples, IMO.

A high-ranking (well, as high as Americans tended to rank back then!) American dance team used this particular Rachmaninoff Concerto in the 1989-1990 season. In this video, the commentators talk about what a controversial choice it was. You can see just how far we've come when a piece that was causing such a stir in 1989 is deemed, by some, a warhorse in 2015:

I guess, it is not your typical free-dance material as it does not have a clear or distinct dancey beat but with the right choreography, it can be a powerful FD piece. If they choose the Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto No. 2, Op. 18, III Allegro scherzando , I can see a Najarro choreography working.

Chock and Bates twitted: "We've teamed with #MKBlades to announce our new free dance music will be Rachmaninov's Piano Concerto No. 2".

Love the piece of music, but not sure if it's right for them. And it's a bit of a warhorse, although not used as often in the dance field. Hopefully yhe can challenge with it!!!

Tobias/stagniunas did in 2012/13 (another igor team...) and I can't think of the name of the teams, but I remember a couple more at Euros the season after. I don't think it's music that works particularly well for dance, because there isn't a clear beat for much of the piece. Maybe the 3rd part, but I expect they'll go over the top on the dramatics as usual. I'd like to see them try something more subtle.

Subtle ? I'm thinking that would be a S-T-R-E-T-C-H for Maddy? But then again wasn't it Igor that choreographed that Chopin FD for B/A?

Their first FD performed in 2012 US Championship was a wonderful display of subtlety _ their performance was mesmerizing, soft, and compelling so, I think, they'll do great. Here's their FD to Chopin's 'Prelude in E minor' _ https://youtu.be/2xoqqk2h0k0 .

I forgot that one. Well Rach. is indeed a very good choice for them !!!

Igor S. is an absolute genius. Zueva, lost out big time when she booted him out of Canton. That was absolutely genius for a new team. I now have great respect for Elena Kustarova as well.

Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto No. 2, Op. 18, III Allegro scherzando ( https://youtu.be/BcMU7l-EINg ) is a wonderful piece with varying moods/tempo and colors and if the movements are so choreographed to express these elements, this FD will be great. Najarro said of this FD "I’m sure this program will attract great attention!"

Maybe C&B and their team have been watching a lot of Sasha Cohen videos? First Rach 2 and now Dark Eyes? Of course Sasha skated to every warhorse that existed. At least it's not POTO!

I am excited about C/B's programs. It seems they are trying to create a niche uniquely their own. Antonio Najarro's expertise and Veronique Breen's are interesting backgrounds/bases to work from. There'll be definitely innovative movements and feel - risky, daring, and edgy and I hope will work for them.
