2015-2016 Programs by Discipline

The choreography of the FD has been changed also. I don't know by how much but it's not the same choreo that Najarro did originally. Igor has worked on it now. About the music of the FD, Rach.2, Igor said that "the music has been adapted to suit the program [so] it does not follow the pattern of the piece".

Alba, thank you for the details as well. It sounds like the free program was likely Rach. 2 originally (otherwise the quote wouldn't just mention the "pattern of the piece," but the piece itself); but the music has been edited in some way, shape, or form. Of course classical music is always edited, but in this case the music has been re-edited since the original choreography (and not just by adding sound effects or a beat or a stronger base, etc. but maybe by changing the order of the music or selecting different cuts). Guess we shall just have to see what we shall see.

No faith in Igor's choreography at all, but I do think Rach could be a good selection for C&B.

Haha, I'll have to send a video to my dad, then! He reaaaaally likes Katarina...

I think their style is similar. Obviously, Adelina was much younger in that particular number than Katarina was when she developed the siren image later in her competitive career and as a professional. This is all rather off topic so I shall move on now.

Madison & Evan have changed both programs in terms of choreography. The SD is completely knew, music included. The choreography of the FD has been changed also. I don't know by how much but it's not the same choreo that Najarro did originally. Igor has worked on it now. About the music of the FD, Rach.2, Igor said that "the music has been adapted to suit the program [so] it does not follow the pattern of the piece". This means two things, either they have changed the original music and chose Rach. for the knew choreography, or that they have changed the editing only.
Lynn Rutherford reported that "While choreography is overseen by Shpilband, the skaters also worked with Antonio Najarro, the Spanish dancer .... Veronique Breen, a former ballet dancer and off-ice conditioning specialist, .. also an important contributor" clearly suggesting the FD was a collaborative effort. This is expected because of the nature of the discipline/art form that prompts some adjustments like rearranging the musical structure of the piece to enable the program intent/desired look and the discipline’s requirements. Derek Hough's work with Davis/White prompted Marina Zueva to adjust some parts he choreographed to make it feasible consequently changing the dance-design. Anyway, Rach 2 is a difficult piece ... and seems more suited to figure-skating than ice-dancing: Ice- dancers are required to skate to music having distinct beat or rhythm, Singles and Pairs skate to the melody and phrasing of the music _an excellent example is Mishkutenok & Dmitriev - 1994 Lillehammer Long Program _ https://youtu.be/gNDqZuQVcQg . Rach 2 was indeed an excellent choice.

By the way, Hough in one interview, revealed he “ worked to give [D/W’s] … program authenticity and a feeling of seamlessness despite the reality of the short dance, which combines individual choreography with a set pattern from the compulsory Finnstep. He created a mood that helps Davis and White perform the Finnstep as if it was created just for them”. Simply stated, he concentrated more on their expressions/chemistry ....

I didn't specifically say that the comments on Elena were not rude. I suggested most of the comments were not downright harsh!

SD Nutcracker

FD Theory of everything OST

That sounds innovative! Nutcracker is popular, but not necesarily the biggest warhorse. And I love Theory of everything, so that seems great!

And credit for the original reporting of H/B's music belongs to today's article published right here on GS and written by gsk8 :).

I had been thinking that someone should skate to The Theory of Everything. Look forward to seeing their FD :).

I may as well post it here too:
Vanessa James/Morgan Cipres
Free program

I'm not sure if I get it right, but they probably are keeping their short from last season: http://www.forum.passion-patinage.com/viewtopic.php?f=181&t=3423&start=110
Also not sure, but Chafik's SP seems to be Intouchables: http://www.forum.passion-patinage.com/viewtopic.php?f=181&t=3423&start=100
Better if someone who speaks French confirms this.

So, anyone know what's their FP music is?

Also, it was left out in the updates yesterday:
Eliska Brezinowa
SP: El Tango de Roxanne
FP: Notre Dame de Paris

And C/B SD needs to be updated too :)

I loved that movie and the soundtrack. I wonder if they'll costume them similar to Hawking and his first wife Jane when they first met as students at Cambridge in the 60s?
