Patrick Chan

Truth does not unfold. It is always there and will reveal itself sooner or later.

Events are always unfolding, as effects of past events and causes of future events.

Tea is always being made and sipped, with or without yummies.

And what are you doing here instead of writing up your AC experience? Interesting unfolding in front of your own eyes, eh? ;)

you are correcting my english :) well i deserve it.. i went too fast.. i meant.. events unfold and truth gets revealed as an hommage to your previous post LOL

I looked up ISU listing and find it interesting that HKG is listed as Hong Kong/China and filed under H. (HK is officially and indisputably part of China.) North Korea, DPRK is listed as PRK and filed under D. Still interested to verify if the Olympics list nations under the same system.

The Olympics capitalize athletes' family names but put them in the order according to the culture whereas ISU put all family names last.

FWIW:

On the official Olympic website, a list of National Olympic Committees is available both in "alphabetical order" vs. "protocol order".

In "alphabetical order:"
Chinese Taipei comes right after Chile.
DPRK comes right after Czech Republic.
Republic of Korea comes right after Qatar.

"Protocol order" seems to correspond to a large degree to alphabetical order of names in French.

In protocol order (with numbering from PDF above):
#48 Republic of Korea (République de Corée) comes right after #47 Cook Islands (Îles Cook).
#155 DPRK (République populaire démocratique de Corée) comes right after #154 Qatar (Qatar).
#184 Chinese Taipei (Chinese Taipei) comes right after #183 Tajikistan (Tadjikistan).

[Meanwhile, for the Opening Ceremony: "Tradition dictates that the delegations parade in alphabetical order according to the language of the host country, except for Greece, which leads the parade, and the host country, which brings up the rear."

In the order of entry into the stadium for Rio 2016:
#52 Republic of Korea (República da Coreia) marched right after #51 Cook Islands (Ilhas Cook)
#156 DPRK (República Popular Democrática da Coreia) marched right after #155 Kyrgyzstan (Quirguistão)
#184 Chinese Taipei (Taipé Chinesa) marched right after #183 Thailand (Tailândia)]

As you noted, Hong Kong has its own ISU federation (separate from the Chinese federation). http://www.isu.org/member-federations/158-hong-kong-skating-union-limited
Hong Kong has its own National Olympic Committee as well. https://www.olympic.org/hong-kong
(Although Hong Kong is part of China.)

anyone on twitter feels like asking Beverly Smith what is happening with Patrick? she owes us one after the choreo snafu ;)

FWIW about the quad flip:

He’s been flirting with a quad flip, but don’t expect it to be part of his routines this year. “I’m not really pushing myself overly hard to do a quad flip,” he said. “Honestly, I think it’s more to ease a bit of the pressure off the Sal. I know the Sal is a lot more realistic than the flip and it makes less of a burden.”

His long program plan is to go with what he had last year. Three quads: two quad toe loops and a quad Salchow.

Sorry, I would put those in the quotation mark but GS is still iffy right now for me..

I actually knew I had read/heard this somewhere... well.. it's on Bev. Smith's article

Everybody has been talking like it's a given that he's retiring after this season. This really gives me hope that he'll continue. :)
(I want to see him compete on big ice!!!)

I'm secretly hoping a new scoring system may motivate him to stay another year, unless he has already committed himself to some project.

a new scoring system where PCS means

Patrick Chan's Supremacy

I have to save money... let's see how much they will ask for an event pass??? 400-500 bucks?
Money's no object where chiddy's concerned. How about we'll put you in charge of seat hogging? You must have gotten some practice this weekend? ;)

Seriously, I think an event pass will be much more than 500 bucks. But at least it'll be in Canadian $$$ and we wouldn't have to deal with the exchange rates. :yes2:

There's also the 2020 world championships in Montreal.

I was going to ask about this because I would totally go to Montreal 2020. Come on Patrick take some inspiration from Caro and stay on.

i wish all our canadian stars would stay for montreal 2020... i would even be okay if they skipped 2019... or the GP season in 2018.... (taking a 6 month break)...
one can only dream... but for sure, even if they now live in montreal, D/R will be gone... I cannot imagine Tessa and Scott continuing either...

Patrick? well... I have so many chantasies... so why not another one? :)

Kevin will be done for sure... but the other boys (well Elladj and Liam will be done) who knows.....? Keegan is older than the new guys but he has only started to skate for Canada....

Weapo : I want them to be world champions... .01 points away was too much to handle...

I/M : they will be moving on.... SIGH.... they have been firm about this...

who would we have : probably our ladies will all keep going.. Kaetlyn is the oldest... and the most successful, so perhaps she may retire but... she is still very young...

Paul and Poirier are still young... Julianne and Charlie are just starting... MTM2.0... well... we know she wants to get to 2022....

So it looks like about half our team will be continuing...

sorry this post is not just about Patrick... but I think that the rest of the team can be a factor... when people stay on, it's an incentive for the others ;) so if there is a "staying on" trend among our stars, maybe chiddy will keep at it..

from ALEX D -Nebelhorn

I only wanted to tell you, that Patrick is not injured or anything similar. I know why he isn´t here, but promised to not tell, sorry.

But again, it is not health related.

there... Patrick is healthy... so we can all rest...

though... I am not happy that he is not skating a pre-season event.

Thanks for the update, 4everchan. He must be working on a special project.

Well, Pchiddy peeps, it seems that Patrick was still in Vancouver as of yesterday, and freaking out the young skaters there.

Anyone else notice that he's as skinny as these teenage girls? :eeking:
