Possibly, if it weren’t already a recurring issue. Both Vincent and Karen get deducted often, in both domestic and international competitions. Thus, the judging panels didn’t turn a blind eye to them.
Thank you for that clarification. Because I have heard if you get the reputation for under rotating it follows you

Not to be controversial but could those under rotation calls have been used to help the skaters that were coming after him. Because as it was said before it was not counted on for Ross Miner to have such a good skate
Michael Weiss actually mentioned this on the Ice Network ice desk, that Ross's hitting his TES scores well were helped when some of Vincent's GOEs on his quad jumps were downgraded due to those under rotations.

I also wonder how much Junior worlds would help out Vincent because I think he won Junior worlds. Just as Karen being 4th at World's helped her

World champs is considered a tier 1 competition, where world juniors is a tier 3 competition. More weight will be placed on the tier 1’s.

It definitely does. It’s taken Mirai years to get that monkey off her back. She may get looked at occasionally now, but there was a good 2 year stretch that every one of her programs had at least 3-4 reviews.

gymnastics.

Yes for sure, in the men's gymnastics they don't even automatically send the #1 finisher, let alone 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6. Usually they will send #1 but they don't have to at all, unless the #1 finisher finishes first in x number of apparatuses - whatever it is it's never been done. But it's such a different sport, they take specialists. I was lucky enough to go to the Olympic Trials and sit next to Chris Brooks' mother (he ended up being team captain at the Olympics) and I learned a lot. They take the people they think will make the strongest team period. Same with women's, but I think if you finish first you may still go automatically, but they may have changed that. When they first stated doing this ages ago it was very controversial and in 1992 Kim Kelly finished 6th at trials and was named to the team, which was then 6 members. She was cut a month later and replaced with someone else without explanation. Anyway I think gymnastics people are used to it and either ice skating fans will get used to it or they'll change it back to whoever makes the podium goes to the games, who knows.

Maybe? The both have big jumps with URs.

I don't think it's just the coaching, other skaters in other countries have this same issue. And maybe the judges are starting to crack down on URs more now with the heightened awareness about GOEs of high base value jumps.

With the continuing furor over this, all I can come up with is that Ross somehow accidentally summoned the spirit of Freddie Mercury tonight and Freddie looked at Ross and decided it has been far too long since he was on Earth to make a ruckus and shake people up, so he will take this conveniently timed vessel, sprinkle some magic performance dust on him, then bask in the chaos.

THat makes no sense whatsoever. It certainly isn't among the criteria. She was selected on the strength of her silver medal at Nationals. Ross should be, too.
Vincent has a great case too...he was silver medalist last year

i personally think it's smart. its not always politics based, it's who's going to do the best for the team in all events...that's what i really appreciate with gymnastics over skating. so much less drama. and as far as i know the winner of trials is a lock for the olympics.

I'm absolutely thrilled for Ross. Absolutely thrilled. He's been my favorite American guy since his casablanca lp. The question is will he be picked for the big O?

Pictures of Live Aid Radio Gaga are swirling through my head right now and it's a very pleasant experience... I thank you for it

I will be torn over whoever to be left out of the Olympic team, but I think it should be Nathan, Ross, and Vincent as following the placement order although I really wish Adam to make it to Olympics. It will be very illogical to think of Ross, the silver medalist at Nationals not making it to Olympics over the bronze and pewter medalists. Had he have placed third, I would've argued the body of work criteria for Adam's sake, but it isn't. Ross is not known for his consistency, so it will be risky that USA has two skaters; Ross and Adam whose strength lie on more performing sides than TES. Vincent is a future of US men and is capable of multiple quads including difficult 4lutz and 4flip, so I think he should be given an opportunity to experience the Olympics.
