Ok, a few comments and opinions on the ladies FS that may have some on the forum wanting to hunt me down, but anyway:
Everyone is talking about how badly they feel for Zagitova's meltdown (and I concur), but I have to say, I feel more for the third Russian lady Konstantinova. Zagitova will undoubtedly get more chances, but will Konstantinova? This may well have been her one and only shot at worlds and she had a meltdown. And it's not like Canada sending Larkyn Austman — if you're sent by the Russian fed you're expected to perform whether you're an alternate or not. Poor girl.
And speaking of Zagitova, yes, I too felt terrible for her to have such a meltdown. But — her PCS were unfairly generous for that terrible skate. Not trying to kick her when she's down, but when the judges do that, it's unfair to the ladies who skated far, far better than she did and got worse, or similar PCS. I mean, honestly, better PCS than Tennell and Hendrickx, who both skated really, really well? The same identical score for performance execution as Tennell? Really? Really?! Just, no. And she was less than a point off of Higuchi's PCS. Absurd! Her PCS has been overly generous all season, but when she doesn't land the jumps all the cracks in her basic skating and in that program show like neon signs. There's a real problem in the judging of PCS — remedial classes for the judges are in order.
I don't usually ever broach the topic of weight on the forum, but Tursynbaeva's appearance concerned me. She looked so, so tiny and almost skeletal. I know she's always been small, but... Does anyone know anything? I'd be most relieved to be told it's just the way she's built.
I thought Sotskova looked like a million bucks. That silver/grey dress with her blond hair was trés chic.
