Medvedeva leaving Eteri

How is Brian "taking on all that drama" - he just has to train Evgenia. Eteri is on the other side of the world and I doubt Brian pays attention to Russian media. Just because a certain segment of skating fans are losing their minds during the boring off season doesn't mean much in the grand scheme of things. What is the big deal? How could it be worse than dealing with the most obsessed Hanyu or Yuna fans?

This is what I don't understand. I understand why Med would leave Eteri but I'm very puzzled as to why Brian would want to take on all that drama. It certainly has the potential to become a major distraction and energy drain for him--an energy drain that could negatively impact his other students.
Oh no.

Ah yes. She has an equal standing as an 18 year old figureskater to that of a 44 year old coach. Honey, you must not be older than 18 yourself if you think 18 year olds are suddenly old, wise and mature at that age. But if you are older well huh.

I wonder what will happen when that little Russian girl in your profile picture eventually leaves Eteri. Who's side would you be on?

Tutberidze definitely isn't mature if that's what you're referring to. But I can understand why she would like a proper procedure for the student leaving, especially after Lipnitskaya and especially considering her relationship with Medvedeva. I certainly think that Tutberidze doesn't have a very strong grasp of generally accepted social norms and doesn't consider it very important to package the things she says carefully. But, well, I've never considered that too important and it's more crucial to just look past that and think about the things actually happening.

And in the case you outined... I'd really pray that Shcherbakova would still be alright. I hope that if that time comes, there'd actually be a respectable second option for skaters in Russia and it wouldn't just be a straight downgrade.

I feel totally disappointed in this woman.

"Couldn't you keep Alina another year in juniors?"
https://youtu.be/7UtDKmPzEFQ?t=75

I rewatched this again and it occurred to me. Most likely all Eteri's responces were cut and put out of context from much more longer interview. And it was done deliberately in the most profitable angle for media scoop. Which is absolutely typical for journalists nowadays. So.. considering that Eteri is not very experienced with dealing with press or giving interview, and she is rude, straghtforward and emotional woman - it would be really easy for sly interviewer to get answers which they want to get. Therefore I wouldn't be hasty to judge her by such small excerpts when not seeing whole picture.

haters gonna hate, we all know you hate Medvedeva, so you are happy that you can insult her, bravo very mature
She insulted her own dignity by saying what she said... Posing before cameras with Alina, saying nice words about her, pretending to be good friends when things go well, and when they don't... :hopelessness:

I must say, you got a nerve trying to defend her after this...:slink:
If I was Evgenia's fan, I'd have found a deep hole and camp there for a week. :disapp:

So Eteri can't be heartbroken while Evgenia can? That's double standarts

Yeah, again, Evgenia maybe saying something in the heat of emotions to her coach behind closed doors and Eteri going off on Evgenia on tv to reporters in a prepared segment is not nearly in the same ballpark of "acting out due to emotional distress". But sure, double standarts.

So Eteri can't be heartbroken while Evgenia can? That's double standarts

But Eteri didn't say any of this in the heat of the moment. She's claiming that Evgenia said this right after she got off the ice or got the scores, right? Eteri obviously knew about this move for at least a few days - very, very different situation. She had time to think, and chose to go on TV and say this publicly (as opposed to privately, as Zhenya is alleged to have done). And also, while Evgenia is not a child, there is a big difference between 18 and 44, maturity-wise.

So, did Polina talk with Eteri before she left her? Is that why there is no drama about that?
Don't know but the bitterness tends to be in direct proportion to the hopes pinned and the high profile of a student. Someone like Samoilov who she had already written off she never even mentioned until he started doing well with Plushenko, upon which she immediately accused Plushenko of stealing her work, although Samoilov had only been with her for a year. She is absolutely not done yet with Orser, particularly if Evgenia does well with him.

That interview looked like spite, not heartbreak. If almost all the students who leave her have a bitter breakup with Eteri immediately badmouthing them, you’d think she is the problem here, not the Yulias and Evgenias.

Yes, just listening again .... we don't hear the questions... for sure they cut as they wished to create something sensational.

I don't really get why people are now calling Medvedeva "a kid" or "a teenager"... She's an adult, in equal standing with Tutberidze in that regard. Not that this is a mature approach by Tutberidze by any means, but please...

Eh, people are calling her a teenager because by definition of the word she is one, being eighteen. And guess what, she'll still be next year too.

And even if with 18 she counts as an adult (she doesn't even in all countries and parts of the world, btw), being 18 and being 44 is still vastly different, no matter what term you label it with.

Huh? This woman has been the top coach for ladies in the most competitive federation, which includes a lot of TV/interviews since Sochi; she has plenty of experience dealing with the media and giving interviews.

Well, theoretically it should....
