I honestly don't think skating the extra program will be detrimental to Kamila. In fact, I think it will give her a great chance to perform it once in an actual competition environment before the all-important individual event. Which to me will be much more beneficial than just practice run-throughs.

From what other posts have said, I guess at this point the team Gold is pretty much a given, so there won't be that added pressure on her.

Unless Kamila had some actual objections to skating both parts, I don't see any problem.

And it has the added benefit that neither Sasha or Anna will be left out at the expense of the other. 3A solidarity (well 2A here)
Of course, there was this previous poster who used to claim that Kamila has a "superior" attitude or something towards her teammates, so maybe she demanded to skate the LP (the sarcasm is 100% intended).

Well, this is why the Team Event is a complete waste of time, at least in its current format! And also an offense to all the athletes out there, not being able to compete by the rules and not by their capabilities.
I know it may be controversial, but maybe the medals should be given to the entire Olympic team, it's hard to say what would make things more fair. There are aspects of the team competition that I really like, but others that need re-thinking.

Well, no, but now they're being unnecessarily left out for Kami...I don't think it will happen, because both Anna and Sasha are very sweet girls, but if anything, this could end up making them resent Kami.

Why resent Kamilla, it was the feds choice and if they wanted to be selected they should have won Russian Nationals. Why should the best be denied?

Maybe because she’s the biggest gun and a threat.
Anyway, today was Kamila’s best short program. Such an emotional and superb skating. She expressed it well and really owns that short.

Had AS or AT been chosen, I suppose it would have been a more bitter pill for the girl who would have been left out.

Why a team event, with the same programs one week before? I think they should use the individual results of the best skater of each country.

I think they have the "team event" because it makes it seem more like a team sport will all the teammates supporting their skater on the ice. Actually given the sparse attendance due to restrictions, I'm more into the team spirt vibes than I was in 2014 or 2018.

It’s a pity that there’s no spectators and only empty seats. I hope the arena will be full for the single event

The real team event should be synchronized skating.
That would make sense, and there could even be some surprise if some fed really wants to invest in it while this team event is so predictable being just the sum of individual efforts

so why Valieva should sacriface herself if skating team event is so bad?
I don’t see any sacrifice and where did I say that team event was bad ? I’m the one who is overjoyed to see her skating at both events and precisely, she will skate four times. I’m super blissed 👍

Peaking at the right time with your maximum performance is very hard, especially for someone as inexperienced as Kamila. Her level of technical content is insane and we've seen at Euros that she's not a machine. What if she uses her best skate for the team event and then falters in the individual?

I don't really have a horse in this race as neither of the girls are my favorite. But I still find it an incredibly confusing and unfair choice — both for Sasha/Anna who got snubbed of a deserving OGM and even Kamila, who'll have additional pressure and responsibility.

Of course it would suck for the one person/team who isn't selected but is it better to not even have any chance whatsoever in the first place? Like I said, they could have created a mock competition in Krasnoyarsk, given the skaters the opportunity to earn their spot fair and square. But they didn't do any of this.

If either deserve an OGM, they will have their chance to earn it.

Sure it’s hard but now is exactly the time she can peak with endurance and consistency and Kami is not Yulia (Eteri said Yulia faltered because her mother get involved and she doesn’t like it when family meddle).

Most athletes give their best shot in their first senior year. She also can lower her difficulty for tomorrow but I see it more like a training/rehearsal before the big event.

escalating hatred on another site:

https://www.another site.com/r/FigureSkating/comments/slpyl7/maximum_prerotation/

it turns out that Kamila is actually doing double jumps, and even that is wrong. How do they not get tired?
Well, I think it's pretty obvious that she's rotating almost a full rotation on the ice. Like… say what you will but it's right there and very visible. Genuine question: can you not see how she's starting the rotation with her upper body, while the toe pick's still in the ice? Or do you think that's legitimate technique and you don't actually have to complete the main rotations in the air during a jump? I know I'm sounding passive aggressive here — sorry for that lol — but it's just really confusing.

Should Kamila get hate for this? Absolutely not, she's jumping the way she was taught and just doing her job. But it's important to point out the technical flaws and the flaws in the judging system — otherwise nothing will change. The sad thing is that she'd still win and be the best even if her flaws were picked up by the judges. But for some reason they decide not to follow their own rule book…

If either deserve an OGM, they will have their chance to earn it.
If RusFed had let them skate in the team event, they'd have earned it by winning the FS and getting the maximum number of points for the team. I don't understand that reasoning.

I love Kamila, but watched skating last night with a casual fan and even with all the gushing and hype from the commentator’s my friend was shocked people think she’s so amazing. She felt she lacked any connection or feeling to the music and didn’t understand the praise or ridiculously high score.

Also, could someone explain why Sasha dnd Anna weren’t given the team event? People are speculating they’re sacrificing Kamila hoping for Anna to win the individual event. I hope this isn’t true
