Maybe, but then this is inconsistent with the initial discussion that was about encouraging the US to have more pairs. Can't really have it both ways.
Well, I don't know what to say. I don't think letting them grind away and never telling them they won't get opportunities will increase the number of US pairs either.

Exactly, they would need to be provided with support and opportunities earlier in the process of pairing and training, etc. Without that, which does not happen, it is to be expected that there will not be a larger number of pairs. In any case, we can agree to disagree on this because it isn't as if our opinion changes anything anyway LOL.

Kate announced her own retirement (from pairs, I guess) very shortly (I almost said "obscenely shortly") after breaking with Matej Silecky. She texted him that she and her team had decided to "go a different direction," which sounded to me like they had a new partner in mind or in the works. Guess it didn't work out.

I've watched them multiple times, even when neglecting many other things. Have you watched their gala program? It's their SP to "The Prayer," but they substituted lifts, choreographic lifts and moves for the SBS jump, throw jump and I think SBS spin. It turned out really neat. And beautiful. ❤️
Where are vids available of Ellie and Danny?

ETA:
Well, I found their free skate at least.

Here's a link to their SP:

It's wonderful to see Danny - and Ellie for that matter - so joyful on the ice! Looking forward to seeing how much they progress by Nationals.

here's their Gala program, which is their SP, but with jumps and sbs spin removed, and instead putting in more lifts. It's turned out really beautiful. Ellie and Danny skate at 7:39:05.

^^ Yeah, thanks all. I had found the sp stream from Graz. Thanks for the Gala video @skylark.

They definitely look good. Ellie skated with Ian Meyh before. I wonder if she skated with someone else prior to Ian. Certainly, she began as a singles skater, but I don't know when she switched to pairs. TSL seemed to think she's new to pairs. No, she's not exactly that new. TSL should do the research.

Right now, I still have a sentimental feeling about Chelsea and Danny. But, I guess it wasn't meant to be. Chelsea did have some issues or bugaboos with certain jumps, and a tendency to two-foot throws. She actually didn't appear to be better after her return from China. Somehow, it almost seemed as if her confidence on jumps had worsened. Anyway, Chelsea and Danny had a magical, joyful quality, despite Chelsea's jump inconsistencies.

It looks like Ellie is fairly solid with the jumps, but being young and coming up from juniors, they appear to be taking it slow acquiring the triple twist and throw triples. At least, it looked like they did a 2-twist, not a 3-twist. Ellie is smaller and younger than Chelsea, so there's a different vibe that their choreographer is working with. Danny seems happy, which is nice. Ellie also looks happy and pretty good on all the elements, with great potential for continued growth. She must be stoked to be skating with one of the best pairs guys in the world.

I don't think there is any problem with Ellie/ Danny being fast-tracked. The U.S. pairs discipline needs veteran Danny with a good partner, so this is good to see. They still have a lot of work to do as a new team, but there's potential. I wonder how long Danny is considering staying in. I hope he's looking at the distance. Brandon & Alexa are probably thinking just this one more season. It's great that K/F came back. They are definitely needed this season too. Good luck to all these athletes. ❤️

Protocols in Both the short and long said triple twist Level 4. It really seems that all they need is the throw triples. I think they are good but I’m not sure about their longevity. I also worry about her jumps. That being said, if they can stay injury free I would imagine they wI’ll get to go to World’s. It will be interesting to see the, at Golden spin against a bit tougher competition.

You're welcome. :) I think it's a brilliant gala program, using the SP to great advantage, and adding more of their spectacular lifts.

Not so. In fact, not only did Ellie and Danny do two triple twists, they did two triple twists that each earned level 4s. One of the things that impresses me is that they earned level 4s on everything in their SP and FS. The quality of their skating and elements are so exquisite❤️ I really don't mind if they take their time leveling up to triples on the throw jumps. It's such a pleasure to see a pairs team doing their best elements so well. It makes their performances special. I have a good feeling about Ellie's ability to be on Danny's level emotionally, as well.

Of course, I'm with you, @BlissfulSynergy .... I miss Chelsea, and I miss her with Danny, still. They had such a quality of exuberance and joy together. But it was not to be. At least we have those few performances that showed such promise.

It looks to me like Ellie at least has more confidence on the sbs jumps and throws than Chelsea showed. Ellie had a problem on one jumping pass, but I'll wait to see more from her b/f assessing that she has any issues with jumps. 🙂

It's still early in the season at least to me, and Ellie And Danny haven't been together long. Danny has way more experience landing jumps with a partner in senior high level events, Eliie not as much. I think I'll give her time to grow into her new skating and not be so quick to expect every triple jump to be landed successfully. (And I might add even long established top pairs in the USA have had troubles landing triples!) Let's see what happens at Nationals...

I read on Twitter that Alexa and Brandon are skipping 4CCs for a show? Anyone know about this?

They are listed for the Art on Ice shows and the dates conflict with 4CCs.

Well, Congrats to Ellie & Danny for their silver medal win at Golden Spin. Too bad we didn't get a live stream. Have any videos surfaced anywhere?

I have a Christmas Card for Danny O’Shea - hey, it’s fashionably late - I think everyone is this year - and I’m trying to figure out exactly where people who train in Colorado actually train - Broadmoor World Arena?
