If ever there was anything that could convince me of the existence of karma, it would be the year that Mai Mihara is having. First, with chip firmly embedded on shoulder after being unjustly passed over for the Olympics, she benefits from a weakened field at Four Continents to finally win her first major title. Then the stars align to keep Russian and Chinese skaters away, and other stronger domestic competitors like Wakaba and Rika struggle with injuries, allowing for her unlikely first ever Grand Prix win, second ever Grand Prix win, and first ever Grand Prix Final win on the first time she ever qualified for said event.

If this wasn't karmic payback for all the suffering and injustices she's had to endure throughout her career and life, then the world is indeed nothing but chaos.

Anyway, I guess I know I'm a figure skating fan because I revived my account just to post this.

But the real question is this: would Kao be a "Chunky Andean Wool," an "Organic Brushed Alpaca," or an "Organic Soft Merino" if he were one of those yarns?

He seems like a really sweet guy from when I saw and interacted with him at Skate Canada this year...so I guess I'd have to choose the soft merino... (Yet how does such chaos follow such a sweet guy around? Truly a mystery~)

Well, that could also depend on what you gonna do with it - if you really want to try to knit with it and you're not so experienced, I'd go with a thicker one and just try a simple scarf

But you can also opt for everything and then knit some fancy project where you use all of it in one piece

On another note, I'd say that sometimes Japanese Men's hair looks a bit like (but longer)

When you write on your school/ university notebooks the number 1,2,3 to follow their chronological order, but you use a particular notation that sounds really as a word pun for Italians (remember this: "quaderno" is "notebook" in Italian)... So, you'd normally write "Quaderno 1" or "Quad. 1", but since you're a figure skating fan, and you know the progressive difficulties of the six quad jumps (1= toeloop; 2 = salchow ect) you write something like this: "Quad Salchow"!!
(I don't know if that makes sense as the way I wrote it, but I always use this way to put the order of notebooks!)

...when you watch the film "Ladyhawke" (1985) and, well, I don't need to tell you who I immediately thought of when I heard the name of Michelle Pfeiffer's character, Isabeau.

Just finished watching it a few minutes ago, and I would definitely recommend it.

Long and weird is what you want for a password, though. Plus, it's easy to remember but can be hard to guess, since you can put together a wide variety of elements.

I forgot her name was Isabeau, not Isabelle.

Easy done. "Isabeau" is not a very common name. I hadn't heard the name until Miss Levito came onto the international scene last season. And I hadn't heard it in any other context until I watched the film yesterday.

According to her Wikipedia page, Isabeau Levito is actually named after the character in the film. So, that is pretty cool.

You know, while watching the film, I was thinking that the music was great. But, I'm ashamed to admit that I didn't think about it in terms of skating potential. But, this shows that it does work.

Brian's costume didn't exactly say "Medieval France" to me; it was more space age. But, to be fair, the music didn't exactly fit in with the period either. So, it's not really something that can be complained about.

The only thing I can complain about is that the commentators were driving me mad with the way they constantly talked the whole way through the programme. Boys, but I am glad that I grew up listening to the British Eurosport guys, who only spoke during the programme to point out the odd element.

But, what a programme! I loved it! Have to admit, I hadn't watched Brian skating before, but he had so much speed and energy, and the jumps were just brilliant.

Now I really want to see somebody nowadays skate to it. Hey, maybe Miss Levito herself! (Or, would that be going too far?)

Brian was always so lightning quick, lightfooted and very coordinated. His energy was infectious and he managed to grab you with his sense of musicality. I see a bit of that reflected in Yuzu at times. Above all, you can clearly see how much Brian just loves to skate to the music.

When you look up at the first snow on your mountain landscape in front of you and so you know: it's skating season!!!

...this happens:

You attend a semi-large family gathering for some after christmas celebration and you see your nephew who's just started elementary school. He looks more and more mature etc. each time you see him. And now for the first time (he grew his hair a bit) you think "hmm.. does he look a bit like young Stéphane Lambiel?".

After the party you drive your grandma home and suddenly she says: "Your nephew is growing into some handsome young man, right? That 'longer' hair suits him"

...when you watch today's episode of "Knight Rider", and there is a scene near the end where a big arena is set up for a boxing match. And the first thing you think is "that's normally an ice rink".

How did I know that? Because at the two short ends, there was the familiar looking sight of a small white wall with a yellow stripe running along the bottom!

Incidentally, I looked up the episode, and this scene was filmed at the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena.

Although Los Angeles has hosted both Nationals and Worlds, neither were held at this particular rink. 2002 Nationals and 2009 Worlds were both held at the Staples Centre, which is 3 miles further up the same road.

I don't know where 1954 Nationals were held, but it wasn't at either of these arenas because the LA Memorial Sports Arena didn't open until 1959, and the Staples Centre didn't open until 1999.
