I think five loonies are needed for entry but still cheaper than a movie ticket.

Mely-Ann has kept her SP from last season, but has upgraded her jump content quite a lot.

The 3F+3T was iffy (hand down between the jumps, turn-out), but I think the rotation looked good, so it's just a matter of getting the air position more stable. Good 3Lz and 2A. A few points lost on the spins, but overall a very nice start of the season for her.

She looks quite happy, and rightfully so.

Oooh, I really like Aleksa's dress (yes, including the attached gloves), brown is a good colour for her.

Her landings looked quite iffy today, and she just gave up on even trying to make the combo happen. Her spins are still quite nice, but it seems like she might have grown a bit which is impacting her jumps.

It is early in the season, but this is an important competition for JGP spots, so Aleksa certainly wanted more. Tomorrow is a new day, and hopefully, it will be a better day for her too.

I wonder why she fully gave up on that combo she could have done a 3 turn and got a 2t on that. Not a perfect combo but It would have saved her from a +combo.

I always forget Dailymotion has a pop up screen so I can use other tabs while watching, it really is such a great feature.
other than the lutz fall, that was a good skate from Abbie:clap:

It's an issue that happens often in juniors, they just don't have the needed presence of mind to adjust to unexpected issues in the moment they happen.

And often coaches don't train for this scenario either (you'll even find seniors who don't manage to do the combo on the other jump if they fall on the first jump in the planned combination).

Oh, I really like Rose's dress, it's elegant and understated, without being too simple. It fits her skating very well.

She is still a skater I would describe as very inward-focused, and her Axel technique still scares me, but what a nice skate for her here. The same technical elements as last season, "just" switched out the 3Lo for the 3Lz (as it's the required solo jump).

Very nice touches in the choreography, and definitely something she can (and hopefully will) grow into.

An unfortunate fall on the 3Lz, but a very nice 3F+3T off the top of the program, and a great 2A in the second half.

Hetty is such a beautifully elegant and effortless skater, and seeing her after the skaters before her, it becomes quite clear how fast and powerful her basic skating is as well.

A beautiful program, for an equally gorgeous skater.

Kara worked hard to save and stay up on those jumps, good for her  shame about the 1st spin and the stable on the step sequence:console:

idk about this program, maybe she will sell it more as the season goes on and she gets a costume for it.

Lovely skates from both Rose and Hetty. Love these two girls. They just about secured spots with these SP’s. A 62 and a 58….. wow!
Aleksa might have just lost a JGP spot with that horrendous skate. No fight in her. Left me feeling insecure about her as a skater. She doesn’t seem ready this year. Hopefully, she skates better tomorrow.
I think 55+ is going to be a requirement to make the final flight of skaters for tmrw.
I’m enjoying this competition.
Nervous for Kara and Uliana for the next flight. Those are the top skaters from last year.
Also, Breken is a skater I loved from Nationals from last year. I hope she just skates well….

Not sure if this is Kara's final costume, but I'm in favour of more unitards in skating.

A bit of a difficult skate for her, especially the sit spin without value. Her jumps are very high, but it unfortunately often comes at the cost of lack of flow coming out of the jumps, which impacts her ability to fully rotate the second jump of her combos.

It's a privilege to have that issue, but unfortunately not rewarded under the scoring system 😅
