My goodness! Two skaters from the South Tyrol killed in similar accidents in less than a week.

I am sorry to admit that I was not familiar with Matilda Ferrari. But I looked her up, and she was a convincing winner of one of the Basic Novice competitions at the Eiscup Innsbruck last November, in a field of 28 girls. She was clearly a promising talent.

But now her nearest and dearest are grieving for a young girl.

Everybody, please be careful when you are out and about. And make sure to be aware of what is going on around you, whether on foot or on / in a vehicle of some kind.

My thoughts are with her family, friends, and fans.

The International Skating Union (ISU) is deeply saddened to learn of the death of Matilda Ferrari, a talented and passionate young skater who tragically died in an accident at only 15 years old on Monday, September 15 in Trentino, Val Rendena, Italy.
