2025-26 Russian Grand Prix - Stage 5 - Omsk

There was a JGP event when Samsonov got a teddy bear stuffie and was angry in the KnC and nearly tore the bear's head off. It's cognitive dissonance to see a young man with stubble on his chin skating to House of the Rising Sun. I keep flashing to that boy.
He was so tiny back then, it was funny:laugh:

Daniil: wow that opening quad was huge! .... followed by a pop and there was also a fall later all, but overall his jumps looked better than before

I think he is a better performer that what he showed today, but he is coming from quite rough skates so this is a step forward for him. And the second part was much better, despite the fall, he kept the energy up and did his best to keep the skate alive.

Was sorry to see him upset with himself at the end, he is a good skater and hopefully he can start an upwards trend from here.

On a side note, Svetlana is not here, his assistant coach seems to be on his own. What is his name btw? He always seems very calm and reassuring, so I think he is a good emotional support for the skaters

Good for Sarnovsky. That 4S was huge. He needs to work on his stamina as he was totally out of energy by the final SS sequence, but he can go home happy with that skate.

This may be a silly question but I'm just curious, why are they doing warm-ups of 4 + 6, instead of 5 each?

Okay, caught up on women. So glad that 3As are coming back into conversation in Russia. Good attempts by both Elisova and Nelyubova. Sad to see that Murav'eva is struggling after the transfer as well, there was obviously no magic fixes. But, fingers crossed, with time... I would have still had Nelyubova ahead of her despite being a huge fan. Lyashenko is still fantastic student of a great teacher, but offers very little in terms of personality, unfortunately. Gorbacheva's 4S was as epic as ever. Technical content deservedly earned points for Tutberidze's latest.

Anyway, while this is not the glorious era of three A, the nationals will be contested. I think RusFed should raise age to 17 though to have less muddled results.

Just as I thought Samsonov was recovering... still troubles. At least he is not walking in Rukhin's heartbreaking footsteps in his post-Tutberidze life.

Popping Axel is a new matter of art in Eteri's school, Andrei yesterday, Arseniy today. But otherwise solid.
