2025-26 Skate Canada Challenge | Nov 27-30

Ok. Tmrw. Why can’t they just use one rink. I want to watch the dance events too.

Tmrw will be a mix. I guess I will focus on Senior Ladies and watch some dancing in between warm ups.

In one of the mid-zamboni interviews, Debra Armstrong (?) said they will be announcing the Olympic team just after Nationals (late on Sunday or Monday).
yeah.. they have to do so because they need to also know who is going to 4CC and here is the deal.. but I expect them to sleep on it LOL

let's say Skater A goes to the Olympics but Skater X is the alternate.... then neither can go to 4CC. They would usually make sure that the alternate doesn't compete at 4CC to be in shape if needed.

It also means that the alternate may be screwed because it doesn't mean that they will get worlds ... in our example, if the Olympian skates lights out at the Olympics, Skate Canada would want her to do that at worlds too to secure spots for Canada...

which would then mean that Skater X, the alternate doesn't get any ISU championships this year.. no Olympics, no 4CC, no worlds... so being the runner-up may be bad.

I hope that Skate Canada will split Olympics and Worlds this year because of that.

I wouldn't be surprised if Keegan pulls out of Nationals at this point. I expected him to score at least over 150 here. 136 in a domestic competition for someone with his talent. That's like failing an ARTS class at university. It's really hard to do. The men's competition here gives me very little hope for the future of men's skating in Canada. At least Gogo is only 20. If he stays healthy, he's kind of it. I don't see Roman hanging around until he's 30 but maybe he will.

I think Gogo will be our top man. I think Keegan should compete at Nationals but then re-retire. He still has 6-7 weeks to get better. Today, he was much better than a couple weeks ago already (but that doesn't say much I guess). I agree, his score was low and imho, it was already inflated.

Roman will probably hang his skates after this season.

I am not worried about the men. The juniors are promising. David B and Eddy have quads and triple axels. Anthony is special and finally able to(not yet in competition) to land a 3a. John Kim has all the goodies except being able to use them all in one event.
Wesley is back from injury. I think he will be a factor in the next quad.

Now, does that give Canada a podium contender. ? No. Not yet. However, I don't think it will be as bad as the last couple years at Nationals where skaters without a triple axel won medals.

From what I have seen this year in women, I like SMD the best as Oly skater. Maybe it's Roxanne, maybe it's the rush, but Daleman looked so not it for Olympics. Yes, she had speed, but it wasn't a speed with confidence. More like running away from something and throwing into jumps hoping they will turn out. I liked Kwon the most, and if Shiryaeva, Amy or Mclette (no idea how to spell it, sorry) stayed on their feet, I'd be intrigued. Didn’t see Reeze Rose, though. Not staying on their feet in short, in a small low pressure competition is not great. Though Shiryaeva stayed on her feet in Skate Canada, so go figure.

Men's scores look discouraging.

But at least Nationals will have contest for the place in the last group.

Men were a disaster. The good news is that the two that are most likely to compete for the spot were not there .

She started to get a bit tired at the end but that was a good skate from Grabrielle, I feel like the skates so far are already better than all of the men yesterday

Good job by Gabrielle!!
Good free skate!! I’m hoping she gets close ….. to a 100

Edit: She was close. I wish she got a higher PCS score. 137.54 total score. I wonder if it will be enough
