Ya know, whenever I watch Satoko skate I think :luv17: "Wow, maybe I should watch ladies more."
Then her scores come up and I'm all :noshake::mad:

Yeah, yeah, I know! ...her tiny, underrotated jumps!
Still, you can't help liking who you like. And Satoko's skating appeals to me. Especially this SP! :love:

It's okay, go get it in the free Satton!

That was.......accurate!!! :jaw: You'll receive a call next time I'll have to post some predictions ;)

I sent you a friend request. ;) Again, too bad I didn't have internet connection yesterday.

(On the other hand, no one would predict Yuzu would break his record again :laugh:)

I think the score was high for what she did, but sickened?! Tbh I thought it was generally fair compared to the others.

Radionova wasn't overscored. She made an error and then made up for it by adding the 3T later on - which got her more points, actually. It's actually kinda genius ... if she makes an error on the lutz combo, the extra points she gets from adding the 3T in the second half sorta somewhat make up for the -GOE on the lutz.

Compared to Mao though, her PCS was rather high.

I actually thought Medvedeva should have arguably equalled Mao on PCS - as outrageous/sacrilegious as that seems, Medvedeva looked fresher, faster, more confident, had excellent edgework and transitions and spins, and excellent difficulty. She's kind of like Uno - coming out of junior ranks you don't expect her to get the PCS scores, but her programs have choreography and transitions as good as their other ladies, even if she doesn't nearly have the finessing of Mao.

Evegnia is BY FAR the most artistic of the Russian ladies.

Miyaharahas EVERYTHING, except the jumps.

I've said this before, but I don't understand how so many "experts" on this board are always saying Satoko's jumps are pre and under rotated, when commentators like Kurt Browning and the British guys say although her jumps are small, they are fully rotated; her tight and fast rotation are always mentioned. I think I'll take Kurt Browning's word over any of the self-proclaimed experts on this board.

Flashback: Ashley was in 6th after the SP at 2014 GPF. She ended up 3rd overall.

Didn't Gracie also pop her flip in Skate America? She still has a chance for a medal. It's a shame because that jump probably would have put her in 2nd in SP, here.

Not a great night for the ladies. Lots of big mistakes. Not turning out how I hoped but the scoring is fair.

Americans - I'm a hugh fan of Ashley and Gracie. But they have a lot to learn still about performaing under pressure. Ashley skated with quality except for the combo. I wonder what's happening with that. Is it nerves? Gracie didn't seem nervous but she's back doing her combo against the boards. Too bad she didn't recover with the 3F. It's not over yet. Let' see how they bounce back tomorrow.
MAO - when I see her skate it renews my faith. This is beautiful, poised athleticism. It's getting rarer all the time.
Rado - What can I say she's tough. I bet if you saw her with these ladies in practise you wouldn't think that much of her. But she somehow stands up when it counts.
Madeveda - It seems easy for her now. And she may very well win. But, her long-term potential really depends on how she copes with the body changes. (I can't help myself. Under the current scoring system 15-16 yo girls still light on their feet have the best chance of medalling. Is that what the ISU is aiming for?)

I wonder how Medvedeva will far next season.

Leonova = flop
Pogostick = flop
Tukt = flop
Julia = flop
Sotnikova = flop
Elena = barely holding on though like Lip and Medvedeva, she jumps with her shoulders above her ears.

Plus, she has Eteri technique...very, very scary.

SS component for Mao should've been comfortably in the 9s. Best StSq period. Ashley+Gracie...and people say Sasha was inconsistent one?

Elena is doing a lot more than barely holding on. And I wouldn't call Tukt a flop. She skated well at Golden Spin and could well have made the podium at TEB, just like she did at Skate Canada. Evegenia is consistent. Look at her record last year. She won just about everything. And she is on a roll so far this year. There really isn't a lot of reason, other than speculation, to assume she will not continue as one of the best. Agree about Mao's SS.

I don't think her score was so overscored to be honest.

At the end she has the combo after the second half, to me the step sequence was very good, spins great as usual, and also as always there is reputation (same for Mao for example): Radionova is always on the podium.

Satoko's "e" call cost her 2nd, but I think the tech specialist was also generous to her on her 3-3 rotation.

How the heck can any judge have given Medvedeva's 3L a -2 or even a 0?! :shocked:

I thought Satoko's UR was obvious on the 3-3 but even in the light of perfect video evidence they aren't being called. Maybe they amended the rules on UR's.

I'm sure Medvedeva's -2GOE on the Loop should have been a positive GOE and was just a judge error. Like when Julia usually gets a phantom -3 for her final spin when every other judge gives it a +3.

Personally I wouldn't really mind Satoko getting >>s even for her "clean" pre-rotated jumps. I was caught off guard by them actually calling some URs. Her SP still did feel the most complete out of the bottom 5, though her presentation tends to leave me cold.

Underrotations on both the flip and loop for Mao, wonder why she doesn't do a salchow or 3T instead of the Lz. :confused:

I agree, though I'm not sure she could land consistently the salchow out of the step sequence. I wish she'd go back to :
-either 3 axel, then 3flip-2loop, and solo 3 loop
-or 3 axel, then 3loop-2loop, and solo 3 flip.

Also, I haven't seen her 3flip-3toe in a while, but wasn't the planned content before the season started as following : 3 axel, 3flip-3toe, then 3loop?

I hear the BESP guys say that the panel is going to have an extra look at her jumps on a regular basis, though?

Well...if you want whoever is best on the day and it is a 15-16 year old then how else would you have it? The judges should be judging what they see in front of them and not what they predict a skaters future will be. Right?
