Instead of calling it a Mao style, what about a Lori style?

Lori does this kind of choreography really well. For skaters like Zijun, Mao and Satoko, it is a good fit.
 
If I were a skater, I would hate to hear that my program was some other skater's style...

That being said, Satako's program is exquisite, right down to her costume. Every movement is choreographed to match the music perfectly. The program is so classically feminine and delicate without being saccharine. I wonder if Lori Nichols spent all her creative genius for this season with Satako's LP.

Satoko hits superb spiral positions. I wish she'd hold them out a little bit longer. Spin positions are great too (Biellmann could use some work but it's still early). Lovely knees.

I also like the jump layout...it looks like the program was planned out to give her options to do two 3Toes:1) 3Lz-3T, 2) 2A-3T-2T, 3) 2A-3T so she might start out the season with out 3Lz-3T and work her way up to it; alternatively, if she doesn't hit a 3T on 3Lz-3T (if she goes with that jump layout), she can do it in the three jump combination or in the 2A-3T.

:clap: loving the strategy going into it. I'm hoping she starts the season out with 3Lz-3T and only uses 2A-3T if she misses the 3T on 3Lz-3T. Here's what she did in the video:

I have nothing to complain about Satoko's new LP except her jumps. And her jumps are always like that. Another masterpiece LP from Satoko? Let's see.

She's still small. Her musculature looks like it's developed a bit since last season ended, so maybe she's hitting the gym and working on her muscle mass. Most of her jumps looked fully rotated, so I'm ok with that.

The Lutz looked a little bit under, but it's hard to tell. Clear outside edge on takeoff though, so I'm really happy about that, since many top ladies have problems with the outside back edge. The flip edge could use some work though. It's an inside edge, but could be an unclear edge if she doesn't work on that jump some more. I don't like her flow out of the flip.

True, but not in this case. I believe the program was intentional. (Did she say anything about its inspiration for example?) Otherwise they wouldn't have bothered picked the same music genre, style, choreographer doing similar choreography AND debut it at Mao's show where even Taka paid tribute to Liebestraum and Claire de lune. As far as I am aware, this whole show is a big celebration of Mao's work for Japanese Figure skating, and I prefer a proper respectful tribute such as this rather than a half hearted version.

It is good to see she has matured from last and she worked hard to improve. I still find her facial expressions is a bit awkward (put upon) in parts but overall it has much improved from last and it can only get better once she develop her own style. This could be a very good program for her.

Most of Satoko's triples are more like double because she pre rotates on toe pick almost a whole revolution. I am so tired of poiting that out. I like her programs, and her improvement. But her jumps look massively bad to me. Can't unseen p.
 
It's going to take the judges and tech panel forever to post her scores. I mean if they are doing their jobs they are going to have to review every single jump. She got full credit for jumps last season that were pretty cheated. I love her presentation and feeling for not only music but for performing. But in a game of points....things need to be fair.

Why is Radinova always ill? Girl needs to eat those veggies because she was sick at WC and at GPF and I thought she missed a bunch of training throughout the season due to illness....poor thing. I hope she isn't plagued by that again because it's just a little scary.

Isn't she one of the skaters working with Morozov too?

Morozov is choreographing Radionova's LP she mentioned that its to a movie soundtrack. I'm looking forward to it.

Thanks, me too.
I think Radionova could do a classic movie sound track like Funny Face, or Easter Parade. Or, go completely modern and do an action movie theme. Have we ever seen a female Matrix program?

Yeah, I would love for her to do a female role of a male movie :biggrin: I don't mind a blond Katniss Everdeen either. Has anyone ever done the Hunger Games? I think whatever she does will be a win. Morozov can't possible screw up a soundtrack.....can he? lol

Let's start a new thread on the jump discussion. We can get into entrances and rotations and things like that. Unfortunately I'm at work all day but can help with video editing later if need be.
