I think the proper terminology is an 'A-shirt'. Never really understood the other term to reference an article of clothing, I have never used it myself and couldn't imagine throwing that phrase around casually.

Are you sure you are not taking this a bit too far? Ok, there were some reports about his relationships with his students in the past. None of a criminal nature I assume judging by the fact that he is still very much in demand as a choreographer in a field where most skaters are teenagers.
I personally think his choreo would suit Liza or rather I should say Mishin's ideas very well. It's clear, not too complicated, emphasises skater's strengths and showy enough. But I don't think Mishin ever worked with Morozov, did he?
Frankly I am worried about Liza's programs, first it was all so optimistic - 2 programs choreographed by Lambiel, Liza was happy, Mishin was happy - happy days, then suddenly there were reports that programs needed a lot of work, then they sort of vanished into thin air, and now we see some chaotic cuts from Grieg with painfully familiar movements from Bolero & Sandstorm combined. And all the time Team Mishin assures us that Liza will be presenting herself in a completely new role (but seems that they have no clue just which one). The problem with Mishin is that he is a brilliant jump coach (probably the best in the world), he also got a lot of influence with Russian fed which is essential in Russia, but he is not so great with artistic side to put it mildly. He is effectively a technical guy, an engineer through and through, nothing wrong with that but who else would call Grieg's Peer Gynt the Ibsen's Opera?
and worst of all, taste wise (musical, costume, presentation etc) he is stuck in a Soviet era. But instead of trusting people who are better at that kind of things namely getting a proper choreographer and sticking to the choreo given, he interferes and .. we know the result. I feel sorry for Liza becouse she has a potential to develop artistically, she has musicality, she is a natural performer but I am afraid she will never be allowed to grow. I so hope I am wrong.

)trueIt works for some but I think it's more important to be yourself and skate to your strengths first and foremost. Even if it ruffles a few figure skating fans feathers. I'm not so sure all of those feathers were very secure to begin with

Don't mean to prolong the discussion, but a very strong hint of the phrase is in a post that originally was in this thread (but got transferred with several others to a new thread).

Will quickly add that "oriental" is an example of how (IMO) words do evolve and language does evolve.
I am old enough to remember when "Oriental" was a neutral and politically correct term for those of my race. As the opposite of Occidental, it made perfect sense to me.
Decades later, it has fallen out of favor among many (although for me as an individual, it remains inoffensive).

I don't know the origin of that term for a sleeveless undershirt...could it be because Brando, as Stanley Kowalski in "Streetcar named Desire ," wore one? That's the only lame excuse I could think of

I don't know either, but your theory is plausible to me.
(When I was tiptoeing around the term in my original post above, the vision of Brando in Streetcar was in my head.)

A few years ago I wondered about it as well and Marlon Brando was the explanation I was given.
By the way, for other ESL speakers here, the name of the shirt we're tiptoeing around is "wife-beater". An unpleasant name for sure (but I don't really see the reason for so much beating around the bush and not actually saying the term that is being discussed
).

For me, the phrase is so abhorrent that I am not comfortable using it verbatim -- whether others choose to use it or not.
And for me, not using the phrase is a tiny way of not contributing to perpetuation of the phrase.
If you have been following the discussion in this thread about offensive words from its beginning, part of it has been about different people making different choices as to what words they allow in their own vocabulary.
