2015-2016 Programs by Discipline

Oh gosh...
If you must use Beyoncé, PLEASE do it in the exhibition!

I'm not exactly a Beyoncé fan to begin with, and I almost always hate competitive programs with pop-especially bubblegum pop *shudders*-though there are a few exceptions. So this Beyoncé/gatsby/everything 'poppy' that exists craze is not really my thing. I liked phantom better. Heck, even Carmen-which is decidedly not my favorite-would be better.

Leave the pop for your exhibition program, please. That's the point of the exhibition.

(I must say, though, I'm rather curious about Florent's "Happy" SP :p)

I think there is some pop that can be usable for competitive programs. Like Bruno Mars. I don't know, I just try and listen to some songs and think if the vibe works or not. Jesse McCartney songs might work as well.

I agree. No need to banish pop. In fact I suggested this for a skater once: https://youtu.be/YqeW9_5kURI

Anyway...I did not dig Lena's Beyonce infused program last season. That's alright....I still love that girl. I just muted her program and played my own music instead. Simple :)

I can't believe we haven't seen any dub step "wub wub wub" programs yet.

Hee. I loved Elena's short program last year, even though I'm not a huge fan of her generally, because she always got so into it when J. Lo came on!

The latest news on Liza's programs:

Mishin is saying there are still a few versions for the LP: it could be a blues, Giselle or something contemporary. Now, I really do not see Liza in Giselle, what do you think? And are they not running out of time a bit?
I think I'd vote for something contemporary: something crazy could surely be better than a dull Giselle (you can't do ballet music well without a detailed choreography, and I don't see Mishin giving her that at all) or a transitionless blues filled with shimmying and blinking instead of actual skating movements

He's just trolling. Basically they've decided the music (as Liza said in the interview just before this) but he's not going to say what it is.

Alina Fjodorova (LAT) - music from TODES (the Russian ballet show) - not sure if it's SP or FS

Liza should just forget programs and freestyle everything, since whatever she does is bound to be "hideous" in some people's eyes.

Programas de Javier Fernández para la próxima temporada: la 'Malagueña' de Ernesto Lecuona interpretada por Plácido Domingo y Paco de Lucía para el programa corto y, el musical 'Guys and Dolls' para el programa libre
according to Najarro, his choreographer

 Guys and Dolls, but that covers a lot of music. I would like to see Fugue for Tinhorns in there, although I think it would be impossible, even for Javi, to actually skate. I will settle for most of Luck Be a Lady...

Malagueña, meh.

Iliushechkina & Moscovitch SP: Since I've Been Loving You by Led Zeppelin.
:jaw: I just didn't think this was possible - that is, that someone would actually skate a competitive program to Led Zeppelin. But if anyone (from pairs skaters) can pull this off it is probably them. We have yet to know if they will really skate to Led Zeppelin, of course, or will it be some instrumental version of the song.

By the way, thanks, sses1.

I know Michael Weiss has done it (I remember it being a medley with Metallica and Led Zep), and didn't Zhang/Zhang skate to Kashmir? Since I've Been Loving You is an awesome song, and I think it could work well for a skating program; it has the same sort of feel as Blues For Klook. An American ice dance team has used the song before (I can't even remember who it was; this must have been back in 2006 or so), but it was Corinne Bailey Rae's version of it.

Thanks for the information and reminder, Scovies. I saw Zhang/Zhang's program of course, but had forgotten about it. I don't really remember it now either, just know that I have seen it as it was their Olympic program.
