2015-2016 Programs by Discipline

I like Kovtun. I don't know why nor do I care to ever know why. I just like him :)

At least someone! :agree: I remember when I watched him at 2014 Worlds and even though a lot of people think he shouldn't have bwwn fourth, I liked him a lot. There is something in his skating I like, he has the potential to bring the emotions, but he needs better programs.

He must've been inspired one of those Shakespeare comedies where the most random, irrelevant things happen at the time they're convenient for the plot with no context whatsoever!

LOL, I just hope he gets some horrible period costume, or something totally irrelevant to the music like Le Bleu Spydurmanne.
That would have Umlauts if my computer did them.

EDIT: Oh wait, he does have a horrible period costume! I love purple, but WHY? WHY did they put him in a purple velvet vest?!? :sarcasm::scowl:

I'm the kind of person who thinks that, WHEN Shazam FIND something, it's true. Otherwise it would be completely useless.
(I shazamed the song and it gave me nothing)

I use Soundhound rather than Shazam. It gave "She Said" by Jorane for about the first half of the programwhich from the soundtrack of "I Am Dina."

After that Try Again.

The name if the program appears to be SAUDADE

which is kind if a Good Grief Charlie Brown moment.

Did you play the SD audio only file.

I hope it is a joke and not really what their music is going to be.

Normally Kovtun doesn't affect me at all but at some point last season when he fell again and again I pitied him. Too much was expected from him too early and he didn't have the time to develop. Having said that I must say that this LP doesn't look all bad, the music selection is interesting (the question is: can he stand it himself for the next couple of months, he doesn't seem to be the type). When I hear those Beethoven pieces I always get the urge to conduct like crazy ... and he kind of interprets that nicely, arms and all.

Piper Gilles & Paul Poirier CAN
SD Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds by.the Beatles and "Suite Les Indes Galantes" by Orchestra of the 18th Century
FD "She Said" by Jorane from the I Am Dina soundtrack

I'm all for skaters who are improving and trying new skills or new music. Kovtun's programs were not well received previously, so he is trying something new-good for him. I prefer this program to his 'Monsters under the Bed' program of last season. Though that's not saying much. It will be up to him and his team to make sure he lands his jumps as well as sells the heck out of this program. It is not impossible.
I have seen Beethoven music used in comedy sketches and performances before so that is not jarring to me.

On another topic, what is the consensus about Adams new program to Queen? I love the song so much and maybe that is hindering my ability to like the program as Adam is skating it right now. It seems labored and a bit slow. I love the final layback spin. The costume is actually something I could imagine Freddie wearing (since Freddie would wear anything).

I liked the program! I assume the jump layout will change for competition (there's no combo right now, though that could easily be tacked onto the first jump, but if he wants to attempt the quad lutz there will need to be more tweaking done). I agree that the costume works because it's very Freddie-esque, and I also agree that it seems labored and slow at this point. But I'm totally in love with every moment of the footwork. Every movement of his body in the footwork just works very well. He's got a better layback than some ladies, and I hope we don't see it disappear in order to make the spin more COP-friendly.

Is there a link to the video?

I feel like he's wearing one of my mom's blouses...

his LP has a lot of great potential but I'm liking his SP more though

Yeah, come to think of it, my mom has that top, too

Not really, but I've seen extremely similar stuff to this at Macy's. In the women's section.

It's like Yuzuru's shirt from the Olympics (SP): when I saw it, I said, "I would wear that as pajamas." Well, I would wear this to my orchestra concerts, and my mom would wear it to go to a nice restaurant. So...yeah. Verdict: a classic, timeless look on women of all ages; not so much so on a male skater (though I'm glad it didn't have any bling...that's always a plus).

Add me to the camp of not sure of the shirt.

Not sure a skater whose tagline is "spicy" should wear a shirt that looks like he ate way too much spicy food.

I have to be honest, the stream quality was so poor i could not tell at first if the shirt had patterns, of if it was wet and had dried in some spots.

The shirt actually does look rather pretty in higher quality pics like here... or at least I liked it better

I rather like the subtle details of white on white and I like that it is not overly busy. But this shade of translucent white just looks a bit too wet - some other white fabrics might work better. I wonder how it would look with a white tank top under it that you could see the outline of? The shape of a deliberate undershirt might not detract and might make the shirt look less wet. Or a black tank and leave it open maybe. I think gray could also work well as an option to keep it simple and keep the idea and theme the same. Gray is underused and really does often look really nice.
