2015 Four Continents Men's Short Program Feb 12 Seoul Time

Did Joshua change his mind at the last minute about putting a quad in his SP? or was that the plan from the beginning?

I think at one point he said he was planning too but then changed his mind. I think it was the right move.

Nam didn't fall on 3-3, he fell on 3A

sorry fixed it now but still he fell on non-quad element :hopelessness: again i add i love all 3 of them but i love misha this season and so far he is one of the most consistent quad or no-quad
and yes i agree quad can affect the program and already mentioned it :)

Wpit was the right move for him. But he will need the quad in the free skate. That is a must.

On the other hand, Jason should not attempt the quad.

At nationals he said he's planning the 4T in the SP, but when the planned layouts came out (I think on tuesday?) it was already the layout without the 4T. So he cahnged his mind probably sometime... during this last 3 weeks ;)

I hope Denis Ten will be a world champion one day. Such quality there today, if he can get out two performances like that I'm sure he will be :points:

I think he will be. Probably not this year (though Hanyu has been known to make a few mistakes in his long program--see Sochi). He came close at Worlds in 2013 and a lot of people think he should have won.

Eh, from a short-term perspective, perhaps not. But clearly they had some other reason for including it. I think they wanted to see how the jump looks in competition or how it affects the program. I hope Jason talks about it in his Ice Network blog or USFS asks him about.

Thanks for the info. Has Joshua landed a quad in Senior competition? -Or Adam?

Josh's last landed quad was in 2012 JGP Lake Placid. So, no.

As for Adam, he had a ratified 4T with -GOE in both the FS and SP NHK 2013:http://www.isuresults.com/results/gpjpn2013/gpjpn2013_Men_SP_Scores.pdf

I haven't seen many quad attempt videos from Jason, but none of the ones I have looked good. Still, I don' t think the sky is falling because he missed it here. He knew it was a risk. Kori knew it was a risk. And they had a game plan for what they wanted from this competition, and part of that was getting a quad attempt on competition ice. I don't think they care about placement here.

I have seen a practice quad from Josh that was jaw-dropping in its ease and flow. Think how he drops out of his 3A. It was like that.

So I was briefly awake to see Josh live and then I fell asleep during the warm-up of the final group. Oops.

I can't wait to watch the last group of men, since it looks like they did amazing. I'm already nervous for Josh's free skate!

In the Josh/Jason competition face-off record, it's his turn to win, LOL. Seems the switch off happens about every two competitions.

Just catching up with the competition.
Denis was sooo good. Close to perfection :points:
I'm very happy for Han Yan after the horrible season he's had.
Joshua was great again! His short program is really
Jason did great even if he two-footed the quad, I think it was a good choice to add it, he'll get more confidence everytime he does it.
Misha is truly a performer and his jumps were very good.
I haven't watched Shoma (I can't watch the video in my smartphone :( )but I'm glad he did a great job, his nerves are really incredible.
In general we had good solid skates from many men. Best wishes to them for the free.

Quads are impressive and we've seen some good ones here. But I 'd like to mention that we've seen some heavenly Triple Axels too! And those are my favorite jump.
Han Yan, Joshua Farris, Denis Ten, Misha Ge, well done on your gorgeous 3As.

:agree: Ten's was my favorite

My gut tells me unless Jason makes some big time technical improvements (and I'm not just talking about the quad) Very soon Farris is going to take off and leave the rest of the US men in his dust. He's by far the strongest jumper and is such a beautiful skater.

Amazing performance by D10!!! That had everything you look for in an SP. My only criticism is that his edges could be a bit deeper, but his speed and attack is good.

Sad about Nam though - that was quite a meltdown, but he's known for strong FS, so we'll see how high he'll be able to climb (you'd have to imagine he'll climb).

Such a good men's SP it seems... sad I went to sleep and missed it, but had to go to work in the AM. :drama:
