2015 Worlds Short Dance March 25

Agreed, I&Z got their score basically, no more than usual. I guess when you are seen as the US number 2 team, you can't get the high scores to be close to the number 1. I guess they lost points on the twizzles or something.

Ice dance judging can be such a mess.

It is clear to me that the panel (don't know about judges, but I think so too) are being politically correct with all top couples, except the french which they might see as dangerous for gold.
They are "protecting" top couples, 2 from NA and 1 from Europe. Basically is the podium of last season (considering that P&B and I&K are not here anymore). They are not holding down the no.1 from Russia (I guess that's the only favor), therefore the Shibs are sacrificed. The cannot give to C&B such high scores and put the Shibs in 2nd or 3rd also, which by the way I would have no problem with that.
My point is though that if you give C&L 72+, it's ridiculous to complain about I&Z scores. Besides, the difference in scores between I&Z and the Shibs is nothing.

Annnd, true to form, my internet crashes and I miss the final two. W/P behind C/B? P/C behind C/L? :hopelessness:

Well, looks like I should never root for anyone in ice dance. Jinxed again...

At least no one fell over.

FWIW, the Shibs and C&B got exactly the same +GOE in the step sequence. But C&B got level 4 and the Shibs level 3.

The fact that the C&B and Shibs got the same Twizzle score is a bit

(Actually the fact the other dancers in the top 6 got HIGHER twizzle scores is even more )

USFSA doesn't even know how to politck Ice Dance.

It's all on Igor, if anyone. I mean if you keep telling people you are getting level 4 stuff, then perhaps people start to believe it after a while.

Frank Carroll also did a fine job politicking away Lysacek's edge calls and UR on his 3A.

74+ for Chock/Bates? NONE of couples will reach this, it will all depend on draw for free - if they'll go last, they have gold locked. I'll be back late to write my impressions, because now I'm speechless for that score...An wait for Frenchies

Don't forget at 4CC, C/B were ahead of W/P by 2.07, and W/P were third behind the Shibs. In the FD they made up for that difference and got the win by 1.3 (big in ice dance?), and that was with C/B getting near SB scores. So while I won't bet the farm that they'll win again, it's entirely possible. It's still not over!

They were faster than Chock and Bates I agree with you on this, but they also had not so good edge work.

I don't know enough about the technicalities of ice dance to make any accurate, informed comments here, but I hope C/B were dinged appropriately for that twizzle error.

Shibutanis need to get the message by now. Judges just don't care enough for them. Always the bridesmaids.
Anyway, my ranking, based on what I saw:

1. S/S
2. C/B
3. I/Z
4. W/P
5. P/C
6. C/L

They need to lose three to learn how to be good in ice dance again

A lot of us thought that maybe B/S would be back, but they ended up taking the entire year off. Then S/K didn't work out the way anyone hoped. Heck, M/K were considered good bets for Sochi as recently as 2011 when they were world junior champs but right now they're fighting to stay in the top 10. So the Russians now have I/Z to lead the way, but M/K and S/B aren't stepping up. We'll likely see Russia get two dance spots next year. And if Yuko & Sasha don't deliver in pairs and T/M place decently, they might lose their three spots in pairs as well.

I hope these standings don't change much in the FD (though they probably will), I'm kicking butt in my predictions for Ice Dance at the moment! ;)

Wow, I didn't notice the Danes were in 9th place (only watched the last two groups).

They're coached by Papadakis/Cizeron's coaches right?
