2016 Worlds Pairs Short Program

I was only referring to the accusation that their TES was inflated. They were penalized -3 across the board for the fall, and were rewarded for the elements they're good at.

As for PCS, well, they received the same PCS as Tarasova/Morozov, which seems right to me. T/M have better SS, but S/K emote more and are more exciting to watch. It balances out to about the same.

First of all some of those Level 4s were questionable as were GOEs. Just like some of the levels for both V/T and S/K were unusual.
As for PCS, T/M are better in everything, not just SS.

They should have gone with Yu and Jin. P/Z are lucky to be in the top 2 flights. Hope she's okay after that fall.

For me personally, I feel that Y/J should have been sent instead of W/W. Nobody actually bombed in the test skates, so I feel that, results being close, the whole season should have been taken into consideration as well, leaving W/W off the team (remember that both P/Z and Y/J made the GPF). But that's my personal opinion. I know that this season has been tough for P/Z, but I feel their growth and once (/if) they get their confidence back, they're going to be a very serious threat.

The Chinese were absolutely sublime - certainly the best pair today! I didn't completely get the top North Americans marks. Especially S/K. How could they get such score with a fall??? I'm getting concerned about Russians in top 3 after the long....

Press conference starting: No sassy quotes from Maxim yet- just disappointed they didn't hit their levels, happy about the standing O from the audience.

I'm not a technical specialist and neither are you I'm assuming. Do you have any reason to be suspicious of the levels? Alexa and Chris have competed more than either St/Kl or V/T, so maybe they're better at getting the levels. Who knows.

Stating that T/M are better in everything is kind of a ridiculous generalization. It appears you're not even open to the possibility that Alexa and Chris might demonstrate more emotion and connection to the audience than T/M, at least in the opinion of other people. (I suspect you would feel differently if T/M were not Russian or if Sc/Kn were Russian.)

OK, then.

For me Sui/Han were the class of the field today! I just love their SP this season!

I think Sui and Han should have an higher score (pcs) especially after seeing a 78 + for D/R...imo

it's not a proper competition without a Spell and a performance by Ewan McGregor.

It certainly wouldn't be for me. I love both, S/K and D/R and I was thrilled to bits to see lovely Fedor again. Wish them better than 5th place, though. :frown:I'm sure they'll see to that in the FS.
At the same time, i'm very happy all went well for D/R. Onwards and upwards!

The reality is, if they did not fall, Scimeca would have received far higher PCS, maybe even 35-36. I want them to do well, but I personally think that is not fair to the other teams. I think the PCS would have been about right if S/K did not fall as T/M did not.

and worst possible for Sui/Han...

I'm hiding into depressing hole :slink:

D/R PCS WAY too high...again! 36?!?! What the... Again, saw this live close to the ice and that is just very very unusual. StolKlim hosed, gifts for Scimeca/Knierim. At least those two judges were in the right mind to score Aliona/Bruno correctly in PCS, and V/T are rightfully leading in components.

Actually, it's the worst for St/Kl, they are literally screwed out of medal now. And it is not good news for D/R to skate after a possible blunder by S/H. V/T will benefit from going after a sure to be lacking skate by S/M. The difference in the level of skating will be even more so obvious.

You're talking in hypotheticals. We don't actually know how Alexa and Chris would've scored if clean. Maybe somewhat higher, but not on the level of top 2 Russians, D/R, or S/H.

Even with the fall, Sc/Kn continued to sell their program and did not lose energy or enthusiasm. T/M are just very...beige (plus were probably hurt by skating earlier. it's not fair but I've accepted it as how skating works.)
