I'm not really bothered by single skaters doing tango even if it's the SD rythm. They are two different disciplines and I don't think they should pay attention to each other tbh - for example, I only follow Ice Dance sporadically, I'm sure it's true (and the opposite too) for many viewers

Because if athletes & coaches don't pay attention to the rhythm dance selection and you/your athlete skates after the RD at Worlds/Europeans/4CCs/Junior Worlds, you might wonder why the all-event ticket holders groan as soon as your music comes on?

(Actually, the best reason to pay attention to the selections in ice dance is that often ice dance as a larger discipline is the most musically oriented. Dancers and/or their choreographers are often the first to go out on a limb and find & develop new music for the sport. Many many famous singles & pairs programs were successful dance programs first. And, of course, it occasionally happens the other way as well).

I think coaches and athletes are much less bothered than we are because they have different panels and judges at competitions. But yes, it would be nice to be thoughtful and consider the audiences as well.

Sorry if its a wrong thread to ask this but I've just re-watched this movie and wonder if anyone ever skated to the Thorn Birds soundtrack?

Which only means ice dancers should pay more attention to what music they are skating. If full time audience get bored by the music of single skaters it is because ice dancers exploited it before, so its their fault in first place why they didnt choose non boring tango, its not the fault of single skaters choreographs. Ice dance tech committee clearly encourage skaters, coaches and choreographs to think wider while they are choosing the tango music, so i hope they listen that advice.

That sounds awesome - right up their alley, and a hit with 90s kids like me! ;)

Finally 'Wicked Game' as a program, especially by such sensual, seductive couple with knack of making songs with lyrics work! I love James Vincent MacMorrow's cover, but I think it would be too slow and lyrical, my cover pick would be one by Daughtry. Major props for both musical choices!

FD: To Build a Home by The Cinematic Orchestra
I am not sure if this is a good idea for them so soon after Papadakis/Cizeron's FD to Build a Home. Hopefully they and their coach and choreograoher have done something totally different with it. Still, comparisons are inevitable in any case.

I like this one by Theory of a Deadman.

Apparently they'll be performing the SP to 'Uninvited' at The Ice tonight - with Guillaume right there to see how it goes, which is a bonus! - so we might get to see it early when the show is broadcast on TV.

Sergei Voronov

LP Kaleo - Way down we go

Choreographed by Denis Ten

https://headlines.yahoo.co.jp/hl?a=20180728-00000052-mai-spo

After the performance, according to the interview of the Mainichi Shimbun, Voronov said, "I'd like to slide through the program he choreographed as my future responsibility, obligation, to convey his thoughts and feelings is my destiny "I said.

The performance is a song "Way Down We Go" tied up with the main character 'Logan' by a character of American comic. The hero has an image of immortality, and Ten proposed that it is suitable for Voronov who is active and still keeps skating even now when he turned 30.

The choreography was held at the end of May, and Voronov said, "I never thought deeply, but when I think about it now, it was destiny, not from God but it is a given mission." In the free demonstration, Voronov cares for Mr. Ten. In the choreography of the places we have synchronized the movements Mr. Ten showed on the ice, the last looked up to the sky, and showed a praying look.

I love it. I heard this song on the radio some 2 weeks ago but couldn't Shazam it. Great music for Voronov. And also beautiful that we will have Denis's choreography this season.

Still better than what they had last year. Actually I think this is a good style for them, but they could have done it with a different song.
