I think the running joke should be that next time Guilluame has to wear the halter neck I believe he designed the costumes

Okay, you know I'm a ShibSib uber but I swear not all of this is about them... I don't have technical knowledge of someone like Anyasnake, BUT:
1. Why did P/C get level 4 on their twizzles with positive GOE? Many judges gave them +3s!!! Even I could tell something wasn't right there...
2. Why does it seem like Maia and Alex got scored like the team event in terms of the rhumba when everyone else seemed to be gifted level 4s and all keypoints? I didn't see anything wrong with it...
3. I hear Tessa messed up her second choctaw (I don't know enough to know what the heck a choctaw is...) Was this punished? If not, was it something that needed to be punished?


So the penultimate group curse really set in for Maia and Alex. I think they were a bit underscored on their PCS. Only one ten is not enough. They gave such an engaging performance that wasn't like watching porn, and they have great SS.

Watching Gabby and Guillame, I didn't even notice the wardrobe malfunction. What I did notice, besides the twizzle errors, was the song choice (I love Ed Sheeran) and how much speed and ice coverage they got on their rhumba.

Haven't watched Tessa and Scott and not sure if I will. Out of the top two teams, I definitely prefer P/C. They seem to have more originality.

Watching Hubbell and Donohue is like watching porn for three minutes on ice. Why does this style keep getting rewarded? There's a bunch of other places to find porn besides the Olympics...

P/C looked a little faster than V/M to me, with a more comprehensive ice coverage. Might explain some part of the marks if it is true

Clothing
1. At ISU Championships, the Olympic Winter Games and International Competitions, the clothing of the Competitors must be modest, dignified and appropriate for athletic competition – not garish or theatrical in design. Clothing may, however, reflect the character of the music chosen. The clothing must not give the effect of excessive nudity inappropriate for the discipline.

Now, I am very liberal in my views & honestly don't care if nipples are shown on tv. But I do question if the nip slip warranted a deduction by this ISU rule. If it's against their rules, it deserves the deduction, same as if you had a piece of your costume fall onto the ice.

I don’t think that the rule is talking about accidental nudity. It’s talking about purposely vulgar costumes

P/C : Level 4 is correct, there was not a balance check or anything messed up until all the required rotations were made, level not affected. Best pattern of the field (GOE significantly higher than anyone).

For Maia and Alex, it looks like : 1)Maia's chochtaw was counted as a No and the last steps too, maybe they skipped an edge ? I'll have to rewatch, but the rest of the Pattern IMO was exquisite for me - they had nice GOEs.

Tessa's chochtaw like in the Team event, looked maybe flatter (the second one ?) but we don't have enough camera angle so I'll have to rewatch it. (Ben Agosto mentionned it too and if so they're supposed to lose 0.60 point, and before people hit me, I did not say they did - I stand by my words that Gaby and Scott have the best chochtaw out of everyone though )

Protocols indicate that H/D won on Rumba levels but the twizzles did not look very good - well good yes, but a bit stationnary in the end and maybe enough to be downgraded ? happenned to them too much this season.

Some of these ice dance calls are like figures back in the day where you weren't quite sure because it was highly technical and you weren't there to see in person. Also, here the judges don't get to get up close and personal after the pattern is done

You'll find teams having a lot more than 4 rotations in twizzle to insure having level4 even with those mistakes. I mean the Shibs have like 8 in the first one

I think that if I watched live I would be so into all performance, I wouldn't care at all though ! And some commentators live in the Arena miss mistakes like an extra twizzle, or a bobble, because it's way too fast and hidden sometimes (so we complain a lot, but we don't have to judge everything and look at everyhting back in 1 or 2 minutes).

I wondered why G/P got level 3 on the twizzles. On the replays it seems like Paul's blade was a bit shaky in the first set but I am unsure if this was the reason or something else. I have to educate myself on how twizzles are scored

But it seems like the tech panel wasn't too generous to any of the teams here. Of course I still haven't seen the full event.

I'd love to see the Shibs SD live. And I've never seen V/M live, I feel like I've been missing on the Vancouver generation (Patrick Chan, Carolina Kostner, Javier Fernandez...). So I hope Shibs continue.

It is almost like the judges are trying to protect the French and the Gold. It would have been fair and fine to give Virtue and Moir a 4 pt lead here or at least 3 and a bit. Technically they should have been ahead by more and definitelly the pcs. REally unless they stop scoring the French so high in thelong just because they like the classical approach and flowy approach it is gameover for Virtue and Moir. Really they are not a challenger. To be fair, though two wrongs don;t make a right if V and M make a small error they deserve tomakeit up with far higher pcs or the generous GOEs that the French got for some of their elements. today V and M had a lot more polish and fierceness they won the SD but deserved a bigger lead. its not like the judges favored the other Canadian teams and gave them a break nor should they but V and M deserved a far bigger lead or alternatively Pc deserved to score less than they got. It is so frustrating to see such judging like this. This is killing skating to the average olympic fan.

So hold on second, judges should judge for the average Channel surfing fan? That makes absolutely no sense. The judges should charge the product on the ice which they did. I re-watched both dances the French team and the French team we’re definitely faster and sharper

I'm glad I got to see the Shibs SD live at Nationals. It was amazing how much they improved since even Boston Worlds, when I saw them last. Javier Fernandez is a treat to see live too -- glad to witness his world championship win at Boston too.

I wouldn't word it quite as strongly as you have lol but I agree. Why not just codify it in the COP at this point: +GOE if you have sexual chemistry, unless you are a sibling team, in which case sorry why don't you learn to jump and skate pairs instead?

I'm probably biased because when I first started following ice dancing the packaging of one particular skater *cough* Chock *cough* really bothered me because she was so young at that point. But if this is what wins can anyone blame the young ones for doing whatever they can to win?

I should probably go before I get into a rant about USA gymnastics ...

Nope, disagree :scowl: Judges reward P/C who don't do ALWAYS sexual chemistry or Romance, only in a few programs like Mozart or Shape of You, but awarded all the points to Shibs' Fix You and P/C's Build a Home which were the opposite of that.

A living proof : it's about the programs, teams just capitalize on what they do best. That's why V/M do drama/theatrical/man and woman relationship, H/D do sultry blues, P/C do contemporary, C/L do Italian Romantic comedy (but their FD is different this year though).

I'll have to thank the Shibs for breaking that stupid "Can't skate while siblings" bareer. No ick factor, nothing.

Judges 3,5,7, and 9 are all relatively close to Canadian judge. 3, 5 and 9 are only 0.5 different and judge 7 is 0.75.

ETA only looking at PCS

I meant more than just V/M. they had WePo and Piper/Paul a good bit higher than many of the other judges.

Can someone please explain me how P/C got three +3s on their twizzels?

If someone does explain it for you, can you send him or her over my way to explain how several judges awarded them 10s in Performance when she spent the entire program trying to keep her dress from falling down? I've had all night to think about it and I'm still perplexed.
