No way they are splitting men, not with everyone who wants/whose coach feels entitled to the team medal. Men are expendable, people have said as much. If the man who has to skate four programs back to back bombs the individual event it's his problem.

Well... if the Fed wants performances like last year then they better make sure the ice conditions are like last year... even the girls made weird mistakes in Saransk. It's just that whatever the boys do feeds into this confirmational bias (good skates - no recognition/unrealistic saviour narrative, bad skates - hopeless as always).

I was just thinking that at this point the number of Russian girls doing senior quads is approaching number of senior men worldwide doing senior quads, so the mindset is simply incorrect—women with certain training are capable of doing quads... it in no way reflects on men negatively.It's bizarre, were the RusFed this obnoxious during the dark days of Russian ladies skating between 2006 and 2014? Plus does the RusFed understand physics and the human body? Yes, a lot of Russian girls can do multiple quads now, but they're also very short. The Russian boys who were on the podium at Junior Nats are very tall, consistent quads will be more difficult for them.
Although even been short doesn't seem to help our lads, I'm still sad about Danill S and he's tiny. He had all the goods but it seems not to be.
As olympics and worlds roll around Danielian and even Petya need world standing points if they want to get 2 assignments at senior GP circuit next season so trying to get those junior worlds spot to get those points is not a bad shout. Thats why Japan is sending Shun and Kao to JR worlds even tho both have competed as seniors in GP circuit for the last 2 seasons.
WS points don't matter if you have a good SB. Great examples are Kseniia Sinitsyna and Daniil Samsonov. I'm sure Petya will get two GPs. What's more, he's fourth Russian man on the SB list. WS points can only help you if your SB isn't very good (Sofia Samodurova as example).
