Oh, I can’t wait if so!The latest rumours are Russian Junior Test Skates will take place from 3rd to 4th August in Novogorsk and JGP spots will be assigned shortly after. I wonder how many of the young Russian men we'll see there and who'll get the earliest JGPs in France.

Rostelecom was for all intents and purposes domestic and didn't count towards any standings or rankings.

Especially with the pandemic and quarantine still having an affect in some countries..
Still it stays in everybody's ISU bio as a GP event. That 'scores didn't count' rule doesn't change it.

Yes. However, federations aren't concerned with it, which is what was being discussed. It also has no bearing on their standings which were used for selection, which is what was also being discussed.

And various sources also claim that there will be a broadcast on Channel One, though no live audience will be permitted at the venue itself.
The event took place, it was international (hardly, but so) and it was (with no doubt) senior. I'm not talking about scores and standings, just about the event itself which was considered a GP event. So the two took part in a senior international event (however their scores don't count for standings etc.). Whatever was being discussed on the GS forum, it doesn't change the skaters ISU bios, where the Rostelecom Cup 2020 is recorded as a GP event.
Yes, but I think its still reasonable to say that the seniors whose only "senior international" experience is at a GP event last year are still pretty much a first year senior.

Oh, it says it starts with the dancers on 2-3 August. Fingers crossed Channel 1 does the same thing as last year. Honestly, after watching Russian Cup last year, I would be happy to keep watching it if they show it, because there are some skaters who would not compete internationally, but I am curious to see their stories continue.
I guess, the guys who sort of caught in the domestic-GP-only situation will try to get out to the Challengers to start qualifying? If that’s possible?

Wow, looks like RusFed basically put their whole Junior and Novice Nat team as substitutes. They sure want to keep all their options open. But that also means no Rostelecom host spot for Mark K.

This matter is decided by satisfying ISU criteria for senior GPs.
Mark doesn’t have an ISU SB score (http://www.isuresults.com/bios/isufs_pb_00102771.htm), no rating, he was never even on JGP. Similarly to Samsonov, Mark has an OS disease since he was 13, which made him miss a number of junior seasons. He appeared on junior nationals only once prior to 20-21 season, in 2017 and placed 16th. Obviously that didn’t guarantee him JGP. He also simply couldn’t be submitted into senior GP, because there’s no basis to give him a spot (except for getting a home spot).
Samsonov got his guaranteed spot for being in top 24 SB list (one of the criteria for guaranteed spots). A second spot is given based on SB list, since his was higher than Mozalev’s and Gumennik’s, he got a second spot.
Yes, it is possible for him to qualify for Olympics. If he does exceptionally well on his JGP, stays consistent and scores well throughout the season, and then does well on Nationals (finishing within top3), he will likely be sent to Euros. If he does well at Euros, he’ll also likely be sent to Olympics.

In theory yes, via receiving the necessary technical minimum int. score and then medalling at the russian senior nationals.

I guess with Mark doing the JGP, the Rostelecom host spot will likely go to either Petr or Andrei.
