I wouldn't say it's unfair but it most definitely is unnecessary und illogical on a sports level and cruel on a human level. There is no need for the Russian lady to blow the rest of the competition out of the water by 50 points Kamila style. Anna would comfortably place first even with a watered down program but not even that can be said as an excuse since she has been looking very good in practice and has never imploded in recent memory. They basically prevent her from going home with an Olympic Gold Medal "just because". And Kamila has nothing to win with this, only a risk of fatigue.
I completely agree of what you are saying but I'm merely addressing the insinuation that this is somehow unfair to only Anna or T/M regardless of what Sasha or B/K and the other skaters that was left out stands. It really succks and I'm sad that they couldn't distribute that team gold to more skaters but if we talk about fairness of who should get the team gold, this is the best decision by having only the Russian champs have it.

I'm worried too about Kamila especially with the fatigue aspect but knowing that the individual event is exactly a week away, I'm optimistic that she will just be fine.

Wow the Rus fed really took Kamila bias to a whole new level. Not only helping her get generous WR in her first year out of juniors, they wont even allow another Rus lady have a team gold. Because they know that Anna and Alexandra are more than capable of winning over Kaori and Karen by a generous mark even with no quads or 1 quad for Alexandra. And this isnt good for Kamila, she could be in danger of becoming like Julia in Sochi. Ugh this is such injustice for Anna and Alexandra, both have done so much for their country and they are rewarded like this. First they corrupt the skating scoring, then they're bias against non Eteri Russian skater, and now they are bias for their prized skater.

For half a point. Anna beat her for 16 points in the SP. And it's nearly a year. Since they turned seniors the only time Sasha won over Anna was at the last nationals. Though there¨s no reason of turing the FFKKR decision into a weapon against either of the skaters.
I predict that Sasha will land her 5 quads and be the next olympic champion by only a few points like Alina and Zhenia
It’s her dream so she will give her everything and she deserves to win an international title

There’s no reason to make this out to be a massive slight against Anna.

there have already been suggestions that such a decision was made so that Sasha and Anna would not be offended by each other. Very stupid if that's the case. As a result, Kamila will overwork, and Sasha may again take unnecessary risks.
They could do a ballot if they wanted to give equal chance to both (a gentle way to say "We son't have the balls to pick one of you, so we will just force kamila to skate a full competition just days before the most important competition of her life"
Congrats rusfed :bang:

I respectfully disagree. Having one of Anna/Sasha skating in the free is what I call unfair to the lady that will be left out. Same with T/M and B/K in the pairs.

If you look at the whole team, only the Russian Champions Kamila, M/G, S/K, and Mark are skating in the team event.

Now having the team event gold exclusive to the Russian Champs only is what I call fair to both the Russian Champs and the non-winners.
When you have team, and a limited number of "medals" to distribute is good management to involve as much "players" as possible so anyone (even the left out) feels part of the team and more people will get prizes.
I know it's hard to pick between Anna vs Sasha or M/G vs S/K (my pics would be for the best international results since the last olympics) but it is unfair not to pick and left all of them out in the cold when they alla are so deserving.

There’s no reason to make this out to be a massive slight against Anna.

Well she is the only reigning world champ to not be allowed to compete in the team event, that does seem like a slight against her. And per my original comment when I said it was Valieva - in 2018 they substituted an injured Medvedeva for the team event.
The 2 girls thats revolutionized quads into the ladies discipline, both perfectly capable of winning the FS with a 1 quad program aren't getting an opportunity to be the first woman to land a quad at the Olympics.

What would happen if one of the entries already announced has a last minute setback (minor injury, for example)? I suppose that in a case like this if they are allowed to replace if they still have possible changes, right?
I don’t believe so. After the final entries are announced, there are no substitutions.

RusFed thinking that if Kamila fails (unlikely) in the individual event, at least she will already have her Olympic gold so they will be off the hook.
Also if Anna or Sasha were skating today and they failed, it would damage their reputation for the individual event. Although I'm a super fan of 3A, I think Kami took women's figure skating to another dimension, she includes it all, 3A, quads, spins, art, the whole package.

You’re right. I don’t think Anna is better than Sasha, but that’s my opinion. Relax, Anna will get a chance to show the world her quad flutz in the individual event.
That's not the problem. You expressed it as if puttung Anna, a reigning world chamopion, three times national champion etc. into the team event was a way of how to give her an undeserved medal already won by others, which is - not reasonable. The difference before the last skate definitely won't be 10 points thaty would allow you to say it doesn't matter on the last skate and with such "logic" you could put anybody out of the team.

But the lead will probably be 5 points by the women’s free. So ‘Anna’ could have come last and would still have got an OGM. She doesn’t deserve a gift like that above Sasha, who single handily changed this sport forever.

we can just hope that we hopefully dont see the same happening to kamila that happenend to yulia 8 years ago. that said the individual skating is i think next week so there is a bit of a breather for the skaters.

Wow...I really thought they'd use Anna for this and was looking forward to her closing out the TE...Honestly unfair to both Anna and Sasha, who have been denied a gold medal for no reason, and Kami, who risks being worn out by the time the individual rolls around. Not to mention this will just makes people hate on poor Kami. :palmf: USFS and Rusfed should give each other tips on bad decision making

Well, this is why the Team Event is a complete waste of time, at least in its current format! And also an offense to all the athletes out there, not being able to compete by the rules and not by their capabilities.
