2022 Olympics: Women's Free Skate

She should never have come back then. I hope Eteri learns a lesson from all this, don't accept back someone who has left and strive to focus on the girls who are truly loyal to their team. All the drama of Eteri destroying figure skating, even the IOC president against her, WTF!!! She can't control Trusova's crisis, I really think she was the most surprised to see her reaction. We all watched as the trainers tried to control her, she was just out of her mind. We also saw the support they gave Kamila, the situation was already complicated. The fact that they let her compete only indicates that they are sure of her innocence. Anna always with class, she does not need to be flattered in front of the cameras, she knows that her team, her family and her country are proud of her.
I hope Eteri is not left to run roughshod over any more children. At the very least, an investigation and findings under the Rodchenkov Act would prohibit her from again bringing that system into countries that recognize it as illegal doping and child abuse.

There was nothing wrong with group 1 and group 2 today. Better than all the tantruming.
Really. This "a la Group 1 and 2" comment was such a low blow and disrespectful to all of the wonderful skaters over 20 who were for the most part the very ones who made this event WATCH-able.

As long as we have our Mariahs, Kaoris, Wakabas, Leonas, and many others past and present who stick around, fight through the puberty monster, take care of their health, train smart, hone their technique, develop character and perspective, and find their artistic voices... elite and Olympic skating will be fine.

BTW, does anybody else miss Ashley Wagner? I do.

16 isn't old enough.
They are discussing increasing it to 17, not 16. 17 is what many people have been pushing for, we'll see what happens with that. It requires 2/3 majority to pass.

The whole podium was 17+ and wouldn't be harmed by the rule change, indeed. But it would leave out skaters like Valieva who still is a phenomenal PCS talent at her young age, which will be a shame.

rant in 3, 2, 1....

part of my previous post was that they are blaming the ISU for her PERFORMANCE and PLACEMENT. she was put through hell and back this last week and her team has too much pride and too big an ego to let their CHILD ATHLETE go home, rest, recover and do the right thing instead of pass up another opportunity to win win win. her team left her alone to deal with this ON HER OWN. they couldn't even properly support her. even after somehow summoning the strength to compete and just getting through it at all, it STILL wasnt good enough for Eteri. she immediately began critiquing her performance the moment she stepped off the ice.

i have no idea how Valieva has gotten through this Olympics. the pressure was bound to get to her and social media refuses to even see the weight of the situation and how this has mentally affected her. they look the other way and point the fingers at everyone else. they can't see the situation for what it actually is. bottom line is the adults around her failed her MASSIVELY, at Valieva's own cost and as i've said before the real irreparable damage was done today. she will be the one to suffer the consequences that have begun today. this girl will need serious therapy and time away when she gets home, and there's nobody else to blame but the greedy adults around her. she is a pawn in their game.

i am sorry for this rant, but what has happened to Kamila is inexcusable and the deflection and poor me cries of Russia and her fans is just disgusting. i am very, very sorry for her that her likely only olympic experience was completely ruined and she is leaving this competition devastated.
I'm sorry for the way all the Russian "women" are treated, it is vile and inexcusable.

I felt Kamila should not have been allowed on Olympic ice. You can't dope and still skate on the biggest stage in the world.

With that being said, my heart aches for her. Such a beautiful girl like that is a victim of a sick, twisted system that could ruin her.

Kamila needs to get away from Eteri before she completely ruins her. Go talk to Evgenia about how she got away. It's hard. She's 15 and someone like this completely going to waste would be a pity to the sport.
Eteri needs to be shut down.

I would be a very bad psychologist.

I thought KV would fall apart in the sp due to all that had happened, but since she had not fallen apart, I thought she would be able to win the competition. Well, I am not a psychologist :)

I just don't know how you can recover from all this: being humiliated, possibly realizing she was betrayed if she was not aware of being doped, losing one's life-long dream, losing self-confidence, being there with everyone, except journalists, doing as if you were not there (no podium, 25th skater...), from childhood to adulthood in ten days... There does not need to be any ban in the future, being allowed to skate was her sanction.

I'm not a fan of raising the age limit higher than 16. I'd rather a solution be based on changes in the judging system. I agree Valieva is an incredible talent and hope she'll be around when she is 20+, because I think if she is she will be better than she is now, above and beyond the thrill of quads.

I may sound out of sync but I’ll quote Eteri having a “clean tail”, I don’t know the English equivalent… but a person who does and means no harm to anyone, has come through hardships, karma, the previous Olympics it was Alina (breaking her leg learning hard combos, being deprived of family, being unable to drink or eat as she gains weight fast, rises and falls in the Olympic season and then putting up with all post Olympic drama). These Olympics it was Anna, even during these Olympics breaking her skates and suffering in pain wearing her second pair, delivered two clean programs. But I am devastated for Sasha… 5 quads and no gold. I get it that she’s not the most artistic and staff… but boy, 5!!! What else could this girl have possibly done? Attempted the triple axel… As for Kamila, I never felt for her, she always seemed arrogant, super sure of herself. Super happy for Kaori, has been her fan since 2019. Maybe there’s some God’s will out there giving those who deserve it most.
What could she have done? Tried to learn some artistry? No one should be unable to drink or eat or be deprived of family.

Why is there no sports psychologist on Eteri’s team, especially given increased media? They shoul’ve brought one in. Also, there is something called good sportmanship, Trusova failed at that.
Because they don't care?

18 would be better.
