Compared to the RD, there is one change:
New Zealand in
Kazakhstan out

The change between segments was already planned.
Basically, there are 10 ISU members with couples in this event. South Africa doesn't have an international Ice Dance judge. Germany didn't nominate any judge for JGP Bangkok. The other 8 sent a judge and officiate on both segments. They needed a 9th judge and looked at Single judges on site who have also the ID international qualification and alternated the two available between RD and FD.

After last night's terrible news, it is somewhat poignant that we start today with the Ice Dancers.

So, before the action gets underway, let us remember Alexandra Paul by taking a trip down memory lane to when she and future husband Mitchell Islam were competing on the Junior Grand Prix circuit:

2009 ISU Junior Grand Prix Bosphorus Cup FD

Unfortunately, this was the only video I could find from their two Junior GP appearances. But, fortunately, it is of the higher scoring of their two Free Dances.

In their first appearance in Toruń, they were 4th in the CD; 2nd in the OD; and 5th in the FD; finishing 4th overall.

In their second appearance in Istanbul, they were 3rd in the CD; 5th in the OD; and 4th in the FD; finishing 5th overall.

However, there are videos of their other programmes from that season from the Junior World Championships in The Hague, where they were 5th in the CD; 2nd in the OD; and 2nd in the FD; finishing 2nd overall!!!

Ironically, their Free Dance from Junior Worlds is missing! So, we have a full set of programmes from their international appearances, but pieced together from two different events.

So sad looking back now knowing that Alexandra is no longer with us.
