2024-25 US Women's Figure Skating

Just a shout out to Alysa for winning the Budapest Trophy. The US ladies have now won 4 out of the 5 Challengers so far this season. I can't remember the last time US ladies have looked this good this early in the season. 8 medals now in Challenger events and add in Bradie's silver at Shanghai Trophy makes it 9 total medals.

I'm excited for US Women this season! I wonder if they are extra motivated due to Worlds being in Boston. I'm glad we have 3 spots for selection because our field is really quite deep with veterans and fresh talent alike.
If you take Levito, Glenn and Lin-Gracey (who's look in a great shape), for me it's the actual strongest female team in the world (or just behind japanese team)

Because I was thinking about pairs and byes, I figured I'd lay out where things stand as I understand it for byes to Nationals.

Current Byes:

Glenn - reigning Champion
Lee, Josephine - reigning Silver medalist
Levito - reigning bronze medalist
Everhardt - 4th place
Seo - 5th place

Liu - International Bye, Challenger and 2 Grand Prix events
Thorngren - International Bye, Challenger, and 2 Grand Prix events
Lynn-Gracey - International Bye, Challenger and 2 Grand Prix events

Potential Bye:

Kalin - assigned to Tallin Trophy

Pacifc Coast Sectionals - Singles - 11/15/2024 and 11/16/2024
Tallin Trophy - 11/12/2024- 11/17/2024

No Bye:

Tennell - 2 Grand Prix events - Shanghai Trophy does not count toward a bye
Andrews - Cranbury, Dennis Ten
Lee, Michelle - Nice

Hmm lust looked at Grand Prix update and noticed Isabeau is not listed for a second GP assignment while several others have their two. Is she injured? Did she pull out? Was she dropped?

Yes, she withdrew from Finlandia Trophy. No reason was given.

Alysa skated so well in Canada!! I feel like she was robbed in PCS. She deserved higher.
She looks a little bit rushed to me in her arm and body movements. I think as she keeps competing she will slow down a little and look a little more polished. As they say, be quick, but don't hurry.

Lovely skate yesterday for Skylar Lautowa-Peguero in Advanced Novice Ladies at the Santa Claus Cup. For those of you who don't know her mother Julia Lautowa was a young skater who grew up in front of many of us and charmed us with her youth and spunk and competed very well for Austria during the Michelle Kwan & Tara Lipinski era.

Julia Latowa is also Lindsey Thorngren’s coach and has been since her junior days I believe..

Does anyone know what’s going on with Jill Heiner?

Thank you❤️

soooo nationals are about 5 weeks away, what are everyone's predictions? i don't think there's been any indication of Isabeau's shape, Bradie and Alysa have very much been on the rise this season, Amber is having the best season of her life. Lindsey has been having issues and Sarah could be a threat. Ava is listed as a competitor on the USFSA website...is it her plan to compete? with all of Amber's wins this season i think they're going to be gunning for her to repeat, but the pressure will be on to keep her title and it will be interesting to see how she handles it. it's a position she's never been in before. i'm thinking...

1. Amber
2. Isabeau (???)
3. Alysa
4. Bradie
5. Sarah

depending what shape Isabeau shows up in, i could see a world team with Amber, Alysa and Bradie.
