Winner winner chicken dinner!

Is this their first gold at 4CCs? Good for them!

And soooo close for bronze, I look forward to seeing more from Emilea and Vadym, they were great!

And hey us Aussies finished in the top 10!! (Does the 4CCs have quotas like if your country's skaters don't do well enough you lose a spot? Or can all the countries send 3 entries if they have the minimums?)

Piper and Paul were fantastic. I don't really get ice dance scoring outside of the twizzles, but they had so much more flow, finesse, and speed than the other teams. My eye is on Zingas/Kolesnik. He reminds of Scott Moir in terms of passion and commitment. I guess it's that Igor Shpilband influence.

Paul is ready to throw down at Worlds! I wonder if they can win...all the top teams are so good it's hard to separate them.

And ooo the Gala! I wonder when it starts, it's just before 6pm here in Mooseland.

Everybody gets 3, subject to TES minimums.

That's nice :)

It always seems harsh that the Worlds has you lose spots if you don't do well enough...talk about pressure! No-one wants to be the person who loses the spot after all!

And you can lose your spot through an act of God too, didn't poor Sergei V end up "losing" a spot for Russia because his skate broke? What was he supposed to do about that?

Piper and Paul were spectacular. They do not get nearly enough GOE from the judges on the superlative curve lift. It's one of my favourite lifts of any team in the world. That change of direction, her gorgeous position, hits the perfect note of the music — they deserve more.

They have not maxed out yet, so I'm still hoping for their scores to go higher at worlds, but I do think this was probably their best performance so far this season.

You liked the other one better? I was sure you liked Emilea better. Oh well!

I can see why you would think that. I liked them both a LOT, and tried to be balanced in what I wrote. But when Emilea was coming under ferocious criticism after the Nebelhorn, I didn't that was fair, and so took it upon myself to defend her to the hilt.

What tipped me towards Marilena was the music choices. I liked more of Marilena's music than I did Emilea's music.

Billie Eilish has a lot to answer for!

128 and change - On a day that the judges are feeling quite generous, it seems like a low score. They needed to get close to a season's best here.

Chris is clearly a huge P Squared fan, so we may have to forgive him for his many mispronouciations :)

Those are some big medals! Which is cool! I like to watch old skating programs on YouTube sometimes, and have often wondered how small the "small" medals are, because the actual medals are teeny tiny!

They had a few lower levels this time around, especially on the steps (level 2s)... so there is indeed room.
