I see... shows I was not watching live yesterday. So were the women really less attended than the pairs ?Not disagreeing with your observations in general, but the pairs was held first last night?

At least it looked like that.I see... shows I was not watching live yesterday. So were the women really less attended than the pairs ?
OK... surprising that people would make it for dinner time pairs, and leave after, when Kaori Sakamoto, who is a major attraction wherever she competes, is about to skate. At least it looked like that.
moonvine commented that it looked really cold at the rink so maybe people were cold? Anyway for those who did stay, I thought Kaori's performance was worth the wait!OK... surprising that people would make it for dinner time pairs, and leave after, when Kaori Sakamoto, who is a major attraction wherever she competes, is about to skate.
@moonvine was not there was she ? @Seven Sisters is attending I believe. What are your thoughts about attendance and the rink being cold ?moonvine commented that it looked really cold at the rink so maybe people were cold? Looking forward to the RD!![]()
She was not. she was at Skate America. I think she just thought people looked cold. Wish I could have attended Skate Canada. Would love to visit Nova Scotia and the Maritimes in general.@moonvine was not there was she ? @Seven Sisters is attending I believe. What are your thoughts about attendance and the rink being cold ?
Geez, and here I was answering someone else's post about the depressingly low attendance (even worse than SKAM which was nothing to write home aboutETA I blame @TallyT for confusing me saying the pairs were better attended, I assumed they were second but they were first. I'd be surprised that fans watched pairs and skipped Kaori. Very surprised.
) with what I saw and an theory with at least a slightly positive spin on it... remind me not to look for a sliver of sunny side again
I love Kaori, I really do but sadly even with her 3 OGMs she's not. I was more (but not very) surprised that US fans of Alysa (first skate in three years and it was wonderful even if the costume wasn't) and Malinin didn't make the trip.OK... surprising that people would make it for dinner time pairs, and leave after, when Kaori Sakamoto, who is a major attraction wherever she competes, is about to skate.
well the attendance is better on saturday so let's just say that friday night isn't good... but also, the first event today, ice dance was not well attended... and that's where Canada will most likely pick up the most medals.Geez, and here I was answering someone else's post about the depressingly low attendance (even worse than SKAM which was nothing to write home about) with what I saw and an theory with at least a slightly positive spin on it... remind me not to look for a sliver of sunny side again
I simply go by what I saw with mine own eyes. folks. The audience for pairs was low (the one side was near empty both times and it's not a big rink) but clearly a bit bigger than for the women which yes, surprised me as even in these lean times women are supposed to be more popular than pairs. And I just checked some of the men and ID (I liked Piper and Paul especially) and they were slim pickings too.
I wasn't having a go at the Canadians theorising that those who bought tickets were probably more interested in their own possible medallists! During the Mao/Yuzu/Shoma heyday, the Japanese who flew to Canada and elsewhere appreciated and cheered for all skaters, they still didn't always go to the competitions, even nearby, where they weren't, or stay for the disciplines they weren't into. It's human nature to pick and choose what you spend time on.

- handing her all that Olympic gold, Make that 3 Worlds...Yes, this is one of the coldest rinks I’ve been to@moonvine was not there was she ? @Seven Sisters is attending I believe. What are your thoughts about attendance and the rink being cold ?
Lucky you - enjoy (and stay warm)!Yes, this is one of the coldest rinks I’ve been toBut I’ve met a lot of nice, friendly folks, and am looking forward to some terrific skating tomorrow. Carry on!
Me too. He doesn't talk as much as some other commentators and doesn't seem as biased as Ted is sometimes (and although not the greatest at pronunciation, he doesn't mangle simple non-Anglo names as badly as Ted). And an English accent is just so much easier on the ears than North American (sorry everyone, I'm biased).I like Chris.
I love this song. Wasn't familiar with it nor the singer but it obviously speaks to Alysa. Just felt every note. It’s one of the only songs I skip on the albumbut apparently I’m in the minority for that.

Alysa has this on her playlist & worked Massimo Scali to choreograph this for her short program; and you can tell when she skates she feels every note, every word.I love this song. Wasn't familiar with it nor the singer but it obviously speaks to Alysa. Just felt every note.
Definitely check out the album (Bewitched by Laufey) it’s one of my favorites from last year! I think Alysa does a wonderful job in her SP.I love this song. Wasn't familiar with it nor the singer but it obviously speaks to Alysa. Just felt every note.
