2025-26 Russian Grand Prix - Stage 5 - Omsk

She had bad triples in the FS that weren't really reflected in her scores.
Ok, TBF I don't know what I'm talking about since I didn't watch either of her skates. I check out after the bad quads. I just looked at the scoresheet. At least Dina wasn't robbed in her home town.

Mishina's lift positions are to die for. They are the best of any of the current women skating pairs in the world. And, uh oh. Their TES behind Chik/Yan, Isn't that interesting. The protocols are going to be interesting to see where they differed. PCS pulled them ahead, but that's going to make for a very interesting FS.

Bravo Mishina and Galliamov, looking much happier and at easy today

Its a shame they weren't cleared for the olympics, I would have loved to have seen them compete. Its just bad luck that this generation of skaters that they are living through turbulent times a bit like Covid all out of their control.

And what they get is far from that.
Ah?
I do see. Makar deserved bronze in Moscow. I'm not sure about Adeliia's place at her stage as well (but she at least was perfect in SP).
I would be probably more annoyed if there was something in line for him other than that RGP bronze. No intl assignements, not need of good BOW for whatever reason.
And he will qualify for nats.

I don't think than a gold instead of silver would have significally changed something for the skater behind Adeliia. Again, there is nothing in line. And she will qualify for nats.

I'm sedated by all those years of seeing fed's favorites of all countries getting bonus points. Especially during olympic season.

Just caught up with Women/Men.

Looks like some are in trouble...

If these results holds then

14 Nelyubova 16 points
15 Elisova 16 p
16 Kudlay 12 p
17 Mazur 12 p (needs to score 161.17 to beat Pulina)
18 Pulina 12 p
---------------
19 Zubkova 11 p
Akateva 2 p

Zubkova is out right now. And so is Pulina? ...as Akateva will earn a spot at Nationals anyway?
I can't see Zubkova recover from this. Her score is 17 points behind Mazur from the short which is a bit much.
Mazur needs to keep Elisova and Akateva behind her in the free, which might be tough. So she is not clear yet.

Men are more open at the bottom

14 Sarnovskiy 14 points
15 Samsonov 12 p
16 Vetlugin 12 p
17 Cheripka 11 p
18 Soloviov 10 p
-------------------
19 Polyanskiy 10 p
20 Mavlyanov 10 p
21 Dmitriev 10 p

Key player here is Dmitriev. Why has he his only one stage?
And Samsonov might be in trouble. He can't bomb the free.

I thought Kamilla unlucky not be in second. I really enjoy her even without the 3A.

Strong round, Alina, Alisa, Mura, Sadkova, Lyashenko, Mazur, Elisova all very solid. Probably the best GP event in Russia or the ISU all year.

Petr's 105 is kind of a joke, but everyone else failed so he deserves the lead of course.

I guess I didn't expect Akateva to be so unprepared. I thought if she is willing to compete, her triples should at least be stable. She didn't seem to care at all about results in the K&K. If I were Pulina I would be fuming right now.

She was all but retired but I think they convinced her to skate one last time.

I hope I am wrong. You can see how much she can potentially offer if she's jumping normal content.

It did seem like a farewell of sorts. Maybe she doesn't realise it's a farewell.

I admire an athlete that can put their pride aside to perform at a much lower level than they are renowned for. Took a lot of courage, showed her love for skating.

It's all in Mazur's hands now. She absolutely needs to hold onto this 7th place or she is out. Which might be hard as Elisova has a 3A, and Akateva might skate a more difficult program tomorrow.

❗️Adeliia Petrosian skates her FS outside of competition tomorrow.
I almost expected something like this, though I imagined she would skate both programs outside of competition. In retrospect it makes sense that she just skates the FS. On one hand it sounds like a needed practice skate, but on another hand I wonder if that would matter at all since she is already skating clean in practice and she will have absolutely zero pressure tomorrow (which is the practice she would need)... it makes me think that maybe there is something else at play... like they are testing something with the judges, if you understand.

I mean she gets to skate at Nats anyways. This was a last minute decision to feel the competitive atmosphere so it isn't jarring at Nats, I suppose.

Petya was the only choice. Just look at their skating scores. Russia wants podium and only Petya can earn it. It is borderline impossible for Vlad to earn podium. His peak is not high enough and only peak matters in this situation.
Vlad on a good day rotates jumps as well as anyone. Likely he will be stronger in the FS than Petr. Honestly, 105 is a joke.

Now this is what I've been waiting to hear.

I'm pretty sure I even wrote on here that they should let her do a third stage and not include her score (as they do with the Belarussians not including their scores). Finally the Russian fed thinking.

She just need to go for two quads even if she fails on the first 4T, then in a couple weeks there is the Junior Channel 1 Cup, they need to give her the opportunity to skate a short program and free skate there as well.

What a thrill for the audience as well.

So what? Discussion is about the Olympic candidate. Check their skating scores. Check Dikidzhi's scores before anybody decided Petr was going anywhere. There was no reason to skew anybody. Everyone was scrutinized to find the best man for Olympics. Dikidzhi has a ZERO (0!!!) chance of podium at Olympics. Z.E.R.O. Unless everyone bombs 💣💣💣 in which case it didn't matter anyways!
