Rakic and Benoit's choreo are a strange combo, but you do you, Aleksa.
I don't think they work, unfortunately...

David bondar looking pretty scratchy out there right now, and also not caring much speed across the ice at all which is really killing his jump landings.

These men are looking exhausted already in the first third of their programs. I guess it's possible that the non-professional camera work is impacting the way they come across, but a lot of them are looking like they're in the last 30 seconds when they still have 3 minutes to go...

You know, it really makes you realize that Nicholas Nadeau was really dripping in Charisma when he was skating as a junior. I remember his Mary Poppins performance at Junior worlds, and that guy could draw you in to a program so well at even at just 17! Too bad he had to go and grow over 6 ft tall. The only other skater I think I've ever seen with that much natural Charisma was Kurt Browning. That's who I automatically thought of the first time I saw nick. I think if he had been 5'7 like kurt, he could have been one of the greats...

Anyway, just reminiscing

the camerawork makes everything look much slower... I suspect some of these skaters are not 100% healthy as well. I mean, everyone I know and everyone I coach has been sick in the last 2-3 weeks... I am not a professional athlete but just with the virus I had (probably just a common cold) when I resumed training after a week off, I was out of breath after 25meters in the pool. I ended up doing 2800 but it wasn't elegant.

I think he was already 6 foot tall as a junior but I agree with the rest.
His issue came with an ankle injury... he could no longer do lutzes. It happened in his senior career.
Joseph Phan, also one of Yvan's kids had just as much charisma (well maybe a bit less) and even better skating skills than Nic. He had a major knee injury, also in his senior career... for him, it was a career ender unfortunately.
Yvan is taking care of Anthony and Eddy.... they are not at Nic nor Jo's level yet but they are also exciting to watch. They both had major injuries in the last couple years... so hopefully the injuries are behind them and won't happen in seniors like it did for Nic and Jo

The New World Symphony is one of my favorite pieces of music and you'd think with the balletic approach it should be working, but I don't think it is... not avant-gard enough I guess. But of course everyone has their preferences

Newnham not skating to his potential either. He really is one of my favorites with so many great attributes, but that was not something he'd like to remember.

I had forgotten how underwhelming Olympic years skating can be at the national level with so much pressure.
