Not with those egregious errors that were not given proper deduction. This isn’t just coming from Chock and Bates fans.

I'll take Tracy Wilson's opinion over yours or other CB fans. Analysis timestamped:

Also scoring for all couples:

Clearly, FB/C and C/B both had level 4's brought down to a level 3 the exact same number of times: four. Anyone can count, right? For anyone to even think/suggest one couple was clean and the other was not is clearly untrue upon perusing the levels. The charges of "corruption" or any other emotionally-charged wording is unnecessary.

I might not be objective. I tried to be watching top 3. After P/C retired I lost interest in ice dance, as I felt that this cycle nobody would come close to the magnificent D/W, V/M and P/C. Then it was the scandal so I was not interest to see the Cizeron with the new partner.
This was my first watch of their FD’s this season.
I was never a big fan of P/G with the exception of their Vincent FD. I rooted so much for them that I actually had a nightmare they were disqualified before the FD. To me their FD was the highlight of the night, they were clean, sharp, in perfect tune and syncron. Their moment had all the feels. Beautiful.
Never was a fan of Maddie or Even in particular as a pair - huge fan of hers though. They were crisp clean and had the champions vibe. Like they could do it with their eyes closed type of thing. I liked P/G better but I can see why Maddie and Even scored higher at least om GOE.
Now for the French team. Guilame is the best male ice dancer in the world. He is statuesque, posture, edges, speed. One of a kind. I can see why the judges went bonkers with them, as she is also an amazing skater with lots of qualities and they match well. But the fact that they were a new team showed. We all saw him with Gabriella. Such a glued team, the syncron and movements - they were moving as one sole body on the ice. In the end yes I think the French team had the speed edges flow and movements of the night. But it felt short. If you ask me who deserved it I will go rewatch P/C from 4 years ago. At least now I am aware that despite how amazing Cizeron is, the heart and sole of that team was Gabby. I realised just how much I miss watching her in particular.

I thought the central side-boob was very distracting. Only good thing I can say about the costume is that it was less trashy than the original one.
I think Maddie is usually one of the best dressed women in figure skating. But this costume was hideous and unflattering, in all of its iterations. Ditto Lilah Fear, whose costumes are usually impeccable. I thought Piper was the best dressed this season. Her dress is stunning.

Absolutely agree. Maddie's costume was award-show/fashion-designer bad and Lilah's was Halloween costume bad. Piper looked stunning.

I don't think Boyang would ever come into the equation as an artist or technician.
Really? Back in his early days Boyang was considered a jumping phenom, he was the first to reliably land quad lutzes! He's been working hard on the artistry as he's got older, but I still remember the big jumps of the early years.

Although whoops this is the ice dancing thread :laugh2: Which reminds me I need to catch up on Olivia and Tim with an E! I missed their FD.

Why the heck is France getting the Olympics again in 2030 when they just hosted the summer Olympics 18 months ago?
Presumably because the French government thinks the cost was worth the financial return in publicity and tourism in summer, and this would give the same boost to winter tourism. Not many countries can afford to host the Olympics anymore, so it's getting harder to find countries willing to even bid for the Games, summer or winter.

I think Japan had a bit too? But idk, not enough snow to go around I guess
snow is an issue. big enough mountains another one... and for some country, like Canada, local support is another issue. The games are too costly to organize and people do not want to pay for them.

I have asked AI if Montrealers are still paying for their 1976 Olympic stadium...

here is the answer... and that's part of why I doubt we will ever see games again in Canada... (perhaps except in Toronto since they've never hosted them... )

Yes, while the original 1976 Olympic debt was finally paid off in 2006, Quebecers are still paying for the stadium's upkeep and major renovations nearly 50 years later. As of 2024–2026, the provincial government is spending an additional $870 million to replace the stadium’s deteriorating roof and for other structural repairs.
  • Ongoing Costs: The Quebec government is currently financing a new $870 million roof, as the previous one was torn in thousands of places.
  • Other Investments: Additional, separate,, investments include $20 million for sound equipment and $28.6 million for the electrical system, in addition to an annual maintenance subsidy.
  • "Big Owe": The venue earned the nickname "The Big Owe" because the initial debt took 30 years to repay, concluding in 2006.
The stadium is considered a, crucial,, landmark, but these ongoing costs are part of a long-term investment in maintaining the structure rather than paying for the original construction.

You'll never know. They're all well in their 30s and some of them will definitely be gone next time. 🤞🤞🤞
In the pre-competition interview with Mark Hanretty (on Discovery+), he mentioned that Lilah and Lewis said they would continue unless they medalled. I hope they do continue - they've done so much for British ice dance and have brought so much enjoyment to so many people.

What were the errors? Apart from the twizzle?
I saw one big mistake : the twizzles.
Then in the rotational lift, Guillaume looked crooked at the start of it... but that's the angle we got... I don't know how it looked from the venue/judges' point of view.
In the step sequence, Guillaume's twizzles weren't good either but it was quite minor.

I think that people who focus on the mistakes forget to look at what makes Laurence and Guillaume so much stronger than the other teams : their flow and glide. Their lines. They skate big.

I also think they were penalized for two of these mistakes and probably would have ended up 3-4 points higher without them.

I am not so quick to call on an unfair judgement here like some fans are. The ones who are constantly underscored are certainly not named Chock and Bates, though, tonight, they were precise and sharp in their skating. However, it looked to me much smaller and way less flowing. I am not only talking about speed but about getting from one end of the ice to the other. It's something that Madison and Evan have always camouflaged very well with their flair and their presence... but when they are being compared to a team like Guillaume and Laurence, it will not advantage them.

OK, I just printed out the detailed scores for the top 2 teams. Do we know which judge is which?
Gonna rewatch tonight. Wanna see what gets reviewed. FB/C's first element has a five point GOE spread? 0-4?
And can a judge in real time or after the fact judge PCs to within a quarter of a point?
I am quickly loosing faith here. This is only slightly more believable than the Westminister dog show. And that is fake.
So I've had a look at the replays again after 12 hours with fresh eyes and also the scores.

Cizeron got a level 3 for the twizzle. But why are the GOE ranging from 0 to 4??? This makes NO sense. It was absolutely evident this was a mistake on his side, it was absolutely clear.

I also picked up on the issue on the first lift, his hand was like low and then he fixed it after the second or third turn. Again, it was a clear error that should not have been rewarded with such high GOE.

And also looking at their choreographic elements, also severely overscored.

I stand by my viewpoint that C/B were the deserving winners.

I also don't understand the message this sends to the world by having FB/C win, they're basically unbeatable from now on and that will just steal the charm from ice dance in future.

Why the heck is France getting the Olympics again in 2030 when they just hosted the summer Olympics 18 months ago?
There were not a lot of countries bidding for a WOG...if you asked me, Sweden has benn trying for however many years, they really could have let them have 2030....but why would you ask me?

I agree. My wife and I just watched....again...sorry, but this twizzle doesnt represent the scores the French got. It was botched. This is not superior skating skills. While T and J showed this with creampuff remarks, Dick Button would have blasted the French. And / or the judges.

I'm out of Ice Dance until Cizeron is gone. It's clear judges will hand over anything to him for just showing up. Did not watch yesterday as it was clear that was coming. As Ice Dance is not great overall I'm not loosing much and save myself from the "I'm the wonderful Guillaume 2.0 show". A twizzle with a clear fault does not deserve 4points GOE. Others invest in lifts and different programs. That's beneath him, of course.
