Ladies LP

Carolina's medal chance gone by 2nd jump combo...

oh dear, now popping everything

what a shame, as this program seems to have picked up considerable charm from when she last used it. She could fall right out of the top 10 with that performance (but won't, due to PCS for her speed i suppose)

i wonder what happened with kostner. it's not like she had pressure hanging over her head or anything.

wierd.

Great Job and congratulations to Yu-NA!! But She can not be Michelle.Michelle could do all triples perfect.Yu-na is good at only toe jumps. She is not good at edge jumps at all. The greatest skater in the history must be able to show all the jumping ability.

Well, only the flip, salchow and toe. Her lutz edge is iffy and her loop acceptable. Her axel is the worst of her jumps, imho.

Poor girl a disasterous skate for her. sadly i would have this even behind Cynthia but lucky for Carolina she is in the last group. Sad to see.:(

At least the podium wasn't completely predictable! I'm not a fan of Miki's but seeing her withdraw from the LP at Gotheburg in tears was so sad - good for her that she came back this year and got back on the podium .

And I'm so happy for Elene! Not a great LP, but top ten - her best finish at Worlds ever. Hopefully this will be something for her to build upon for next year. I haven't seen the programs, but it's good to see Alena Leonova and Rachael Flatt both skated well.

I guess Carolina was worrying if her underwear showed again. That was a very bad skating costum.. Yes it is pretty when she standed still but most of the time one couldn't see the pretty skirt, only the underswear. What a pity to skate like that at World for her.

Yu-na was amazing! A well deserved World Champion!!!
Congratulations to Joannie for the Silver!
Poor Mao, I hope she recovers from this soon. An attempted 3A got zero, that's just not right.

I'm guessing that after Yu-Na's performance, the intense influx of visitors brought the forum down... :p

That said, congrats to the medalists - Yu-Na for breaking the 200 mark, Joannie for skating solid, and Miki for pulling off a second comeback in her career (that doesn't happen everyday, does it?). Also kudos to Rachael, Alissa for holding it together, and Candice Didier for not giving up. My heart goes out to Mao - she fought and did ok, but not great - I hope she comes soaring back up again next season.

But my god, Carolina just bombed like no other...it's definitely not the first time her skating went right to the dumpsters, but she popped/doubled/stepped-out of almost all of her jumps...

I saw Candice's LP on Youtube, that was scary! All credit to her for not giving up, what a brave performance. It looked like she got a standing O - did she? I wish her all the best next season.

Caro's performance was rather like Tomas's Hidden Czech debacle last season. At this point I have to question the mental preparation for the Oberstdorf skaters. Kostner and Verner, with their talent, should be getting much better results than they are. This was Carolina's second 12th place finish at Worlds, and I really hope to see her skating better and for once giving us a clean performance next season.

Greatest skater?

Great Job and congratulations to Yu-NA!! But She can not be Michelle.Michelle could do all triples perfect.Yu-na is good at only toe jumps. She is not good at edge jumps at all. The greatest skater in the history must be able to show all the jumping ability.

The greatest US skater of all time would probably be Kristy, who not only did all triples, but had triple triple combos in '92.

Thoughts on last night: I wish Yuna would point her toes. It is a petty thing but it bothers me.

The Michelle "auditions" were painful, and in that same time, Alissa's program could have been shown by NBC. (She looked really pretty though).

The skaters representing a certain country need to eat something. Food provides energy. These particular skaters lacked energy. Yes, skaters need to keep their weight down, but when they seem to be losing weight every time they compete there is a problem. We have started to call this country the country of the incredible shrinking skaters.

I'm still in shock of Lepisto's scores... Alena Leonova was sooooooo much better!

Lepisto's score was a joke....Judges just decided the new euro champion to come in the following three years...because that tech content....I mean, Leonova was michelle kwan in comparison....

Congrats to Kim....still thinking that rochette and ando were kind of overpaid but whatever....i would have had mao over Ando

It was a night of board crashes. The MKF forum crashed from overload and
I see that GS had the same problem.

Congratulations to Queen YuNa. I am at a loss for words, what a talent she is after her LP I gave her a standing O.(my cat thought I had lost my mind). So happy for my girl Joanine for keeping it together and skating a program that has touched my heart all season. Miki loved her FS well deserved Bronze. Gotta love Rachael, fifth place finish she should be very happy. I felt bad for Caro very rough skate for her. Last but not least Mao. I would have never thought in a million years she would finish off the podium but after her skate and scores I knew it was possible. I see a possible coaching change for her. Mao is such a talent and I am sure she will rebound from this disappointment. I enjoyed the competition very much and was very happy with the placements. .

I'm so happy for Rachael. 5th in her first worlds is so remarkable. I loved that FS, I hope the gets something that fits her as well as that next year. You could see the improvements in her skating. Shame on the final spin and the combo. Keep up the good work!

Lepisto does have a lovely, lovely quality to her skating but the tech isn't there. And again I found Leonova underwhelming, as well, but she does have more tech (speaking because several have compared Lep and Leo).

Button said he thinks Joannie is very, very good but still doesn't understand herself just HOW good she is. I agree. Joannie has that mature, polished, finished look but even now with the great season she's had I don't think she truly understands just how great her skating is. She can put out COP-friendly programs that still look and feel like finished programs with an integrated artistic concept -- a rarity. And hopefully she'll continue to grow in her belief in herself!

Kim was wonderful and I really enjoy watching her and think of myself as a fan. But despite the record-breaking score I'm not sure I'd call her THE best ever -- but certainly among the best! But I'm so, so happy she had a great Worlds and IS NOT INJURED. Credit to Orser for his coaching skills and his apparent ability to really tailor her season to what she needs as a skater and athlete.

Asada: never have "gotten" her and still don't. Know she has legions of supporters and I'm sure she'll come back strong.

Kostner: Poor woman. But even though the jumps deserted her she finished the program and even mustered a small smile. What a meltdown, though. It looked like even with the one jump she landed, her free leg touched down as she swung around. But I really felt for her. On the plus side, she's looking lovelier and more "put together" and polished with every season, I think. I'm sure she'll be back strong also.

So sad, the look on Kostner's face when she finished her program, it was anguish. She is so classy though, she pulled herself together and acknowledged the crowd. I really feel for her. Should she maybe change coaches? I'm not sure Huth is giving her the mental preparation she needs.

I don't agree with you

I don't agree with you. Of course, I don't want to compare yu-na with michelle. Each one of them have skating attraction.

Yu-na's jump quality is very good include edge jumps. Didn't you see her axel and salchow? Even if Yu-na popped triple salchow at LP but she have done good sal consistently at this season.

And she got a 1.6 goe at 2a(as you know, It is a edge jump) in her LP.

Lost my connection to this site just after Carolina skated. Iam so pleased for Joannie , not perfect but she was solid enough and one thing i did notice right after Mao skated as well as the other women, Joannie has alot of power but still have alot of artistry to her skating, attention for detail and a relaxed flowing quality to her skating.I do love Mao too though. Yu na you cannot deny deserved 1st place, lovely skater though i to cannot say yet she is the best ever as i still think she can grow artistically.Miki i had a feeling she would be good, she shows real determination and what power. I suppose however i felt as good as she was i felt her program was a bit hurried. I do appreciate Rachel is improving and her PCS really are ahead of the russian girl but still find her to be a bit overmarked. She just does not have quite the same level of basic skating as skaters like Laura, and Fumie. Great skate for her though. Would have hoped Cynthia was been a bit better but its still 2 women for Canada isn't it for Olympics? Carolina while not one of my true favourites i cannot help but feel sorry for her during her freeskate. She has great basic skating and just couldn't feel the ice at all. Still glad i stayed awake to watch without having to wait and know the results already. When was the last time a Canada woman medalled? was it not 88?
