I wish footwork sequences would just go forward, not forward, back a bit, then forward again, then back a bit. It's quite possible to do lots of edges, twizzles and turns without changing the direction you're moving. Just like cars can go around corners and curves without having to go in reverse, yet still have good performance.

me too, I would rather have a diagonal footwork, so they would have enough space to fit everything.

Leonova's coach, Alla Piatova, does she have a big reputation in Russia? The only thing I know is that she also coaches Doronina. It's interesting, a country with so many legendary coaches - but the lady that ended their misery in Ladies' figure skating doesn't have big names like Mishin or Tarasova in her bio.

Well, she is known coach in Russia but Alena's success is new experience for her as well as for Alena. She believed in this girl even when some specialists said that Alena has no chances and recommended her to go to the pair skating or finish with it at all...
