Medvedeva leaving Eteri

Evgenia herself benefitted from Eteri's methods. The judges went with her when she was the same age as Alina and turned senior. She started in seniors and won it all. But now that she's older and that strategy doesn't work anymore because Alina is taking over it's suddenly not cool anymore? Why is Alina or those who will come after Alina now being thought of as worth less? It's the turn of time, nobody can stand on top forever.

Peak between 16 and 18 is a thing, but the doubt is that Eteri want to make girls that peak immediately and disappear as soon as possible.

An athlete has at first a lot to gain from Eteri's methods, but then ? Why stick there, after soon be considered obsolete ? Why training alongside who is trained with the only purpose of dethrone you ?

I'm also saying that Alina need too to understand how Eteri is working for the future, is not only Evgenia's problem.

It's not that it's not cool, and you're absolutely right, Alina beat her at her own game. And someone is going to beat Alina at this game too. Now she doesn't have a choice anymore : continuing with this method and being beaten by 15 yo landing quads and risking not qualifying for Beijing 2022 (which would be the real disaster), or taking her fate in her own hands and putting all her cards on the table and taking those risks. It's too hard to beat a Trusova with quads or a Kostornaia with 3As and those skating skills.
And if I were her I'd take the risks. Being in an international center, with international skaters, you have a wider range for your skating and your programs.
(But really I thought Alina would be the first one leaving for those reasons).

No one changes when she is at the height of her success, especially when she is being rewarded handsomely for her actions. Guess which world renowned coach is being supplied w/ an endless line of blue-chip pupils and a brand new rink.

Incorrect.

The wise look at long-term possibilities and their own weaknesses and try to correct them right when they are at the height of success because that is when they have the most opportunities to do it, with least issues.

Nothing is endless and so too will Eteri's school dominance end if she doesn't change. No change is stagnation, stagnation is 'death'. An ever revolving door is not sustainable. If she wants to learn it the hard way, her prerogative though.

I honestly believe Brian will take Wakaba, not Medvedeva.

Yeah, no, not really. But I guess prepare to be disappointed?
I mean I am too Wakaba isn't going there as that was my greatest wish this off season but what use is ignoring reality.

Completely OT, but do you love literature by any chance? A few of your replies are built in a way I'd expect a British character from the 1940s to deliver a monologue.

I am not "ignoring reality", there were some legit sounding rumors that it might happen. If it doesn't then it doesn't, I wouldn't be disappointed although I do believe that she could spread her wings with BOrser. I also believe that he can't really do anything for Medvedeva.

Maybe instead "I believe" I should've written - I keep my fingers crossed tight :)

38 pages in less than 24 hours and more to come!!! Certainly big news in the figure skating community today!

Believe is one thing but you're still setting yourself up for disappointment. Unfortunately those rumors died quite a while ago, to my everlasting sorrow. Who knows though, if he has the space, once Wakaba graduates HS next year it may be on the table again.

Orser can do much for Medvedeva but opinions.

To be honest are we sure TCC is good for ladies? Other than Yuna, we do not have other top tier ladies there anyway. Gabby maybe but well...
Moving to TCC does not means they're all going to get top succeed.

Gosh, you were right I did set myself for dissapointed and now I'm sad :(

Do you think he could rework her technique and help her win again? I have to say I don't, while I do believe he could do something for her poor jumps, I think she will lose her consistency for quite a while and she will be unable to skate back to the top because others would have taken her place by then but that's just my opinion.

I think Evgenia is a nice skater and it's a shame that "someone" taught her to jump like this (with the exception of sal and loop ofc).

I don't believe Evgenia will train abroad...Who will pay the Orser's salary? The Rus Fed won't, it's sure. In Russia the salary of coaches paid by the club or the state. For ex in the CSKA the skaters receive great salaries.. Duble financial loss for Evgenia.

She will, she has the money. She's going to Orser.

There is no financial loss for her; you invest to earn more.

Honestly, I admire her dedication to the sport... to spend her own money for something that, at the end, could not bring her anything.
I admit that in her place I would have focused on a future career: maybe international relations (she has talent), acting or media.

I know she earned a lots of money but she needs to live in Canada she needs to pay for everything..I don't believe..And I don't think she really needs Orser's coaching. I know Orser is the best now, but Evgeni is the best now. I don't think she wants Orser's help for a lots of money.
(I'm really curious about Evgeni's eraning to this day. $500 000?)

She absolutely "needs" Orser's coaching.
