Patrick Chan

I just woke to see the results of the mens SP. YAY PATRICK!!! :cheer:

I'm happy with the top 3 right now but would love to see 1 and 3 switch places after the LP.

Go Patrick!!

Now off to watch the videos!

Congrats Patrick on your PB SP and finally reaching that 100+ score! If you add a 4S next season, oh my!

hi all ;)

i wrote it in the competition thread... watching this SP was a very special moment :)

we talked about the zone.... i felt he was there. His knees were flexible on his way to his start pose and he was in control of his breathing... so i thought... OMG... go!!!!

What came next is something I have looked for and hadn't happened yet with this program : Patrick being able to skate in this calm state of mind that allows him to show the ultimate care for details that each of his gesture requires. It was mind breaking. It was heart warming. The step sequence wasn't just an automatic run through his steps and turns, it was ice carving, slowly at times to match the mood of the music but always with depth and power. It was such a present and dedicated skate. Patrick was able to show his beautiful caring, his love, his humanity in this program. I know he chose these songs because his parents love them : well it was like he was talking directly to them, through his body.

Patrick was sublime. When it finished, I started to cry like a baby... and considering I have seen this program live, i was surprised of my reaction... first time I tear up so intensely while watching online... not even on tv.... so yeah.... Patrick was transcendent. I was trying to type earlier and my fingers were shaking. I am happy he gets a day off because this is the kind of emotional performance that requires to make space for the next one to happen.

He was so grateful and gracious with his coaches too. Thanking them, telling them he had never scored that high. Marina "it was good!" haha :) she cracks me up!

Seriously, I believe in Patrick, I am one of his crazy fans... but he surprised me today. Not because it was clean.... i know he can do that... but because of the pure emotion he shared with us. It was a unique performance, better IMHO to anything he has done before in terms of reaching the perfect interpretation of the musical mood of a piece and sharing it to the audience.

I am not sure I can move yet....

Patrick : you are a beautiful human being !

PS he deserved the highest PCS... He didn't get it.. it's okay... he got a 10 in skating skills, not sure I had even seen that... so that is a balm... IMHO he deserved 10s everywhere :)

THANK YOU!!!!! :hap10::hap10::hap10: He looked so much more comfortable with the layout changes and looked so calm before the music started. Gorgeous 4T+3T. I think the 3A was better at GPF but this was still a beauty. 3Lz was no problem this time. 3rd place just like last year. Now let's have a better LP than last year and get on that podium!!! The program had such a lightness and sense of fun about it today! He saved the best Blackbird for last, as we hoped.

The crowd was amazing too! When Patrick went out of frame () and people clapped, I assume all he was doing was going around the corner. Or was he holding an edge? You know the audience is with you when they clap as you merely skate by. The audience clapped for the spins and all the minor details. :agree: Even the spin centering and positions seemed crisper today. It's like we were watching a practice runthrough with the addition of crowd reactions. It was amazing! CONGRATS, PATRICK!!!!!! :yahoo: :hap85:

ETA: I had paused the video before the K&C. Now I've watched the K&C. The K&C increases my joy so much!!! Thanking his coaches, the big smile, the coaches' happiness, Patrick being so happy about breaking 100 internationally for the first time. I can't take it!!! :luv17:

So it really worked out great for Patrick to take it easy and not over train right before his competition. :) Javi too took a break from skating due to the late arrival of his boots and he had fun playing soccer.

And Kaetlyn explained her SP success as a result of relaxing and trusting her training.

May Patrick be rested, relaxed, confident and focused to get into the zone again for The Journey on Saturday.

This the performance I have been waiting to see of this SP! I saw him skate this back in 2015 when it was a show program and it was divine! When I saw he was making it his sp I knew it had this potential but he just had to build on it over the season. FINALLY it happened today. :yay:

GO PATRICK!!

Skatingfan4ever, May the stunning northern star lights on your avatar keep shining on Patrick   .

GO PATRICK GO!!!!!! :cheer:

I am dead... Watching pairs right now and stil not over the men sp. My friends had to calm me down... I knew he would do great bevor the music started. Befor Javi got his scores he talked with Oleg and Marina and was laughing and clentching his fist to the coaches. He didn't seem to be nervous like usual, even after he heard Javis scores. He was joking and smiling. (We had good seats, near kiss and cry)

But never knew I would be that thrilled.
I am so proud... And I am glad I saw him skate like this... to his potential. I want to see him satisfied with his performances.
