Russian Local Events

I’m curious to my Russian friends , how is they system broke down, as I see these local competitiontheyre are a lot of competitions, if ya not on the national team how is one able to afford this sport , they’re so many hidden gem and I’m wondering how are ALL these kids able to afford it? From skates to costume I’m so curious to see a budget for a 15th place advance novice lady?? Anyone else curious?
It is interesting!

The only things I can think of is a lot of them represent big schools, perhaps the costumes are passed down? Also I know that Kirill S for example has had the same costume for a few seasons now (although his programs have changed) so that would make it more affordable.

With programs, maybe they keep one for couple of seasons to save on cost.

I've switched over to the Mishin Cup, the boys are on (not sure if they're juniors or even younger though).

Skating is a massive sport in Russia. One recent event in SPB had over 200 kids competing! Mishin Cup attracts a similar number (if not more). The network is great, families heavily involved and the sport is very well funded and promoted. Costumes are indeed handed down, worn for various seasons and not seldom handmade by one or more mums/grandmas in the team - especially in rural clubs. Parents of several skaters are coaches/officials in their local clubs. That's how it works.

Awww this huge posters of Mishin at the Mishin Cup! Grumpa is watching over you kids ;)

Ooo I do like tiny dancers! I may swap over.
Fedor's mum is not in action today with her pupils at the Mishin Cup, otherwise I'd watch it.

Nina Mozer has started to promote Ice Dance in her club, Vorobyovy Gory. Two of the young pairs here representing them.

I was right in time for Klementin Tolchinsky. He came second overall with a nice, but slightly wobbly programme.
Girls next, but I'm heading over to Novice boys at the Older Age Champs, which should be good. Starting in less than 10 mins from now.

What is the competition with Ksenia Sinitsyna in it? Is the FP today? What time? Does one get to see it live?

And for those who still need more:

It was worth watching, K/B very rusty though, but I enjoyed A/N

And today, I have the opposite view. First time I really properly enjoyed K/B. Wonder if we get a seperate Youtube-video of that performance

My lack of FS tech let me down. Didn't quite understand why K/B won while Balchenko exited a sbs... I thought A/N were great. K/K with aborted lift, probably knackered after the Cup Final.

Final Results Senior Pairs:
1. Kadyrova / Balchenko 205.10
2. Artemieva / Nazarychev 203.13
3. Kargulina / Kalashnikov 167.27

Final Results Junior Pairs (3 of 10):
1. Alina Raskovalova / Artem Butaev 174.61
2. Ekaterina Chikmareva / Matvey Yanchenkov 171.29
3. Karina Safina / Sergey Bakhmat 170.89

Looks like Juniors had been quite interesting with places changing around.
