Russian Local Events

I wasn't sure when the Russian Elder Age Novice Nationals was starting so I looked on YouTube I found a competition called the Ice Forum Cup.

It's on its second day already, but here's the Results page: http://ffkm.ru/images/files/online/2021-04-01_IceForum/

Lots of categories to see here from all the younger categories :)

There's another competition on right now as well! Google Translate says it's "For the prizes of the Hero of Russia, pilot-cosmonaunt Lazutkin" and it's taking place in Moscow.

Here's the live stream: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1QhDcD0l9Uw

Here's the results page: http://ffkm.ru/images/files/online/2021-04-03_UOR/

Unfortunately, there's not time schedule I can see, so no idea what category we're looking at right now...

ETA: Fortunately it pops up on the score board once a skater finishes, this is the 1st Sports Category for ladies.

I'm intrigued by this Peter the Great Cup so have tuned in.

Alas I can't get the time schedule to load so I'm not sure what segment I'm looking at, except that it's in the girls division

Weird, it loads perfectly for me. :(

I'm only interested in the two Kolpino girls, but it must be a feast for you with so many AoP skaters there. :D

On a diffrent note, Sasha Smirnov has his own skaters in the competition, I mean from his own school SK Master, rather than looking after the Moskvina kids. (y)

St. Petersburg's finest novices (the guys Semion Soloviov, Nikolai Loginov, and Egor Petrov as well as fiery little Alexandra Chatkina) make their appearances there. They are the only participants in their respective KMS categories, so everyone will take home a medal.
There are also competitions for sports categories 1-3, but I couldn't find any familiar names (many skaters didn't even have a club listed, just the region they are representing).

The KMS SP today was kind of all over the place. Loginov was the only one who even bothered with the required Lutz solo jump, but he made it a double with a nasty fall instead of a triple. He also splat quite horribly from his 3A. It looked painful and I felt sorry for him after his skate. :( Petrov, who apparently forgot his costume, jumped (and fell from) a 4T and Soloviov for whatever reason switched his Lutz and Flip around and did a solo 3F and a 3Lz-3T combo. So an unusually high number of invalid elements between them all.
But I'm quite intrigued already what insane layouts the guys will bring to the table tomorrow.
Also it was kind of funny seeing Alexandra in the same warm-up group with the boys. :ROFLMAO:

I'm watching Day 2, thanks for link @CrazyKittenLady although I once again can't figure out which group I'm watching.

The current girl is skating to Kill Bill I think - Sasha T shout out ;)

Looks like the 3 boys Egor, Semion and Nikolai are set to skate next.

And Alexandra C is there warming up with them :)

Alexandra C went first nice long program to the same music Maxim T and Tatiana V did in 2016 for their SP.

Now the menfolk, I do believe I see Artur G!

Egor Petrov has obviously been studying at the Nathan Chen Design School, not much happening with the costume here ;)

:jaw: Oh dear, poor Egor forgot his choreo or something...but he finished like 10 seconds before the music and he has his head in his hands. Poor guy. He was doing OK...there were plenty of shoulder shimmies. They aren't showing the score on the screen and the scoring page isn't updating live so no idea what his score will be, but safe to say he's staying in 3rd.

Here comes Nikolai! I appreciate the half waistcoat ;)

Nikolai is having a tough time of it too.

And the start of his music always reminds me of Jaws, I had the funniest thought the other day, I can't remember if I mentioned it, but imagine Sasha T doing her SP to the Jaws music, landing the 3A on the crescendo bit would be total fire.

OK Nikolai's doing a bit better after falling on both his opening jumps, although he just popped...something.

Well, the FS turned out to be just as wild a ride as the SP.
I watched a bit of the sports category 1 girls (so much for my resolution not to watch Junior girls' skating anymore) and the level was quite high. Irina Migalenia from the Triumph FS Academy in Moscow came first, but second place was already taken by local Voronezh girl Anna Babicheva.

In the KMS girls' category Alexandra Chatkina won her gold medal with a clean FS (apart from some URs, I believe). I'm not a fan of her mock oriental program, but she seemed to enjoy herself on the ice, and that's the main thing!

The KMS boys held up the long-standing tradition of the hot-mess Russian men.

Egor Petrov: Couldn't be bothered with a costume again. Well, at least he brought his skates, I guess? His skating is a bit sloppy, but he is very fast and has great ice coverage. His FS went relatively well until he had some kind of black-out after his last spin. First I thought his boot had broken, but apparently he forgot the choreo and just skated around without purpose for the last 20 seconds of his program. :palmf: Egor came second overall.

Nikolai Loginov: My heart goes out to him. He had two really nasty falls in his SP yesterday and looked close to tears in the K&C afterwards. I kept my fingers crossed for a redemption skate today, but it was not to be. He fell on both of his 3A attempts, then went for a Lutz (or Flip?) a Toeloop (edit: on rewatch I realized it was a toe, did he wanna go for 4T?) but aborted the jump. Kudos to him though, as he tried to compensate for the mistake by adding an extra Flip in the second half of his program, but he popped it to a single. To top it all off he then got the scolding of a lifetime from coach Artur G. You could hear it in the live stream, even though there was no mic in the K&C. :eek2: It's a shame really, as I think Nikolai has great musicality and beautiful lines, but his jumps tend to be very wild sometimes. He came third overall though I suspect the bronze medal will be no consolation for him. :( Better luck next week in SPB!

Semion Soloviov: Really the highlight of the day. Semion landed a clean 4T as his opening jump, followed by a beautiful 3A. He popped his next Axel to a single but went clean for the rest of the FS. Hopefully he gets the 4T so stable that he feels comfortable putting it into his programs for the big competitions next season! Semion came first overall.

That was my virtual recap from Voronezh, many thanks again to all the big and small Russian skating clubs and rinks who keep providing us with high quality live streams throughout the season! :thank::bow::love2:

I felt so bad for him :( The 1st fall on the 3A looked bad hope he didn't hurt himself, I felt even worse for him after the shouting he got from Artur G after he finished in K&C poor kid not his day:(

Really? I missed that! I wonder what he said...
I couldn't make out any words (I probably wouldn't have understood anyway) but Artur's raised voice echoed quite distinctly over the whole rink and the body language was clear. Nikolai didn't even wait for his scores in the K&C, the moment Artur turned round to Semion, he made his escape. A skater leaving before their score is announced is something you don't see often even at small competitions. :(

Daria jump worked out so well for her today I said in the older age nats that the amount of falls has decreased big time over the season previously she almost always fell 3-4 times in one competition sometimes more after coming to Team tut her falls have started to decrease and her jumps have become more stable. In the Russian cups she was starting to already show lots of improvement to her jumps but the falls were still there, in younger age novice nats she only fell 2 times during the competition which was huge for her and she bested that in older age nats by only falling 1 time and today she landed all her jumps! Congrats to her!

Maxim Belyavsky took gold in KSM boys and went clean but his jumps were not as good as always and got pretty low GOE and sadly got his worst result of the season despite coming 1st in both SP and FS.
