You Know You're a Figure Skating Fan When...

Well, it has happened again. A friend of ours texted me @ 8:45 PM EDT last night to ask if we were watching Nathan Chen on (our local) Channel 822. I texted her back asking if it was a rebroadcast of 2021 Worlds or the WTT Trophy? She wasn't sure. She & her husband only caught the last 15 minutes of the broadcast, but did comment that Nathan was super! I reminded them that Nathan is now a 3 time World Champion (during the 2018 Winter Olympics they remarked about what happened to Nathan during the short program. I said to them, "Watch him rebound!"). ♥️ 🇺🇲 🌎⛸️

...when you are male, and you know what a sweetheart dress is.

There was a question on the episode of "Pointless" that I watched yesterday in which they had pictures of tops, and you had to identify the type of neckline. They also gave you the first and last letters, and the number of letters.

Although I didn't know what it looked like, I knew fine well that "halter" would be one of the answers. And I was able to work out which one it was from the letters.

But I knew sweetheart straight away from the picture. And how did I come to know what a sweetheart dress was? From reading comments people made on here in the competition threads!

So, thank you for educating me.

:thank:

(That said, I didn't know what the other three necklines shown were. So, you didn't educate me that well! :p  )

...when you are looking through the schedules for the movie channels, and you spot a title and think "Ah, my favourite skater did a controversial exhibition to that. I wouldn't mind watching it to find out for definite if it was as dodgy a choice of song as we thought it was".

Elizaveta Tuktamysheva - 2015 Dreams On Ice EX

Turns out that the song that she was skating to was not taken from the film. It was just coincidence that they had the same title.

Although it had what appeared to be a dodgy title, the film had nothing to do with what we were thinking of. Thank goodness!

I have never heard that phrase used to mean what it does in the film. And I am clearly not the only one. It was very telling that, when the main character used it, the guy he was talking to hadn't a clue what he meant!

Admittedly, the story was a bit unusual. But it was actually enjoyable.

When your newborn niece's parents reveal that her first name is Piper, and you think, "Piper Gilles is the only other Piper I know of." 🤔 You don't tell them this because you know they have absolutely no clue who Piper Gilles is. (My niece Piper is 5 days today!)

When you can’t sleep because you NEED to know if Philadelphia International is going to take place. Any other crazy person willing to call Iceworks and ask?

So the other day I’m watching YouTube, like some song or whatever. And you know what language the ad is in?

RUSSIAN!

It’s an ad about NYC/COVID-19, and apparently I’ve been watching so much Russian skating this season, that YouTube thinks I‘m Russian (which I’m not) or that I speak Russian (which I don’t)🤣
