2015-2016 Programs by Discipline

Oh no! I love Io ci saro and would hate to see it turning into a warhorse. We had Pang/Tongs wonderful FS and Kozuka's brilliant FS to it already, don't overuse it!

I am sure they will do fine. They need to make a very good impression this year. Curious about Pang/Tong and Kozuka's renditions. Will need to watch.

Pang/Tong were emotional and in sync as ever:

Kozuka's Japan Nationals FS to it is his cleanest version and may be a little hard to find, but dailymotion has it. It's definitely his best programm and features his SS really good.

What's Viktoria, then? The sorcerer, come to steal Elena's swan-prince? The swan-princess?

I wouldn't underestimate them. They were really upset not to make the team last season so I'm sure they want to make a statement. I just wish their choices were more original, for lack of a better term.

I think they have to reestablish themselves this season. Remember, that their last international competition was a total disaster. They have to prove that they can skate cleanly and that`s much easier to achieve when skating to known music. I think their SD will be fine as long as they hit their levels, since the SD is very technical. Now, the FD is trickier if you compare it to the choices of the other Russian teams. I`ve the impression that the other teams went a more innovative/original route than S/K.

Right now, I`m not sure what to expect from them, since their season ended so soon without having a convincing performance. I think Zueva is making the right decision to let them skate at the American Club competitions, because the one thing they need is to gain more experience in showing their programs in a competition.

Oh, I believe it. They're going to be viciously fighting for that third spot (did Russia get the third spot? I vaguely recall them just missing it), or, maybe, second spot. I'm sure they're pretty mad about placing behind their former partners. But my point was, if Nikita is the swan, the role usually played by the girl, what is Viktoria going to be portraying?

Javi's SP will be very Spainish done by Najjaro: http://youtu.be/8fFOmwI1Oyg
But his Lp done by David Wilson will be the same old style we have seen from him for years: http://youtu.be/IhMVCpT4qpA

Where did you get the info?

edit - ok, I saw you included the source on his fan fest. Well...I'm more excited for the SP, though I think the FS will be fine, just way too similar to most of his previous FS programs. Why won't they let him try something new? Or is Javi the one that wants to stay in his comfort zone?

I guess this is Alexei Bychenko's new SP?

Adam skated to this at the US Nats gala, but I never found out the title or artist...googling the lyrics is of no help...what is it??

Vika will be Rothbart

All this Swan Lake talk gave me an idea...  Contemplating this idea...hmm...it might work. Not sure.

Happy with Bocelli. Their big competition on the GP is probably going to be Hawayek & Baker, and I don't think Bocelli is a bad choice for that comparision. It's smooth. It's big. And if S&K can skate it fast, it should be a good side by side comparison of these two teams. (Unless there's a big change in H&B's style. We'll see. Another announcement to look forward to).

Not happy with Swan Lake. Though, to be honest, I think it is a better choice for a waltz than I&Z's music. But then why go and choose a piece that will get you compared to I&K instead? There's no need to compete against a team that no longer exists. Sigh.

Great point. There's been a dearth on quality (or rather, Oscar-recognized) action movies in recent years, which may contribute to the lack of action movie soundtracks being used.

Why didn't we get a bunch of Lord of the Rings programs when that series was a hit? I would've loved that.

ROTFL, we must be on the same wavelength in half of our posts. This was the one exception I was thinking about when I was typing my response. (That I don't recall a Lord of the Rings inundation as opposed to all the Gladiator & Titanic programs we had before). Perhaps it's because not many guys picture themselves as hobbits or wearing elf ears? I can totally see Keegan Messing as a fantastic hobbit though!

There were more than enough epic heroic Men in Lord of the Ring to make a skating program... Though I personally would love to see someone try to portray Gandalf  But yeah, it's odd how that series did not spawn dozens of programs.

Two words: GOLLUM PROGRAM :laugh2:

Not to get off too much on a tangent - Todd Eldridge did you LOTR in 2002. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lwar2cUnbJU Right, that there wasn't an inundation as such.

I think it's that science fiction / fantasy music still has a sort of connotation of being light weight. There's tons of Star Trek music that would make great skating programs, but I don't think the programs would be taken as seriously for some reason.

Thanks for sharing. I always like a good Todd program and LOTR provided a good soundtrack. Maybe it was more of Todd's skating but it definitely had the old school 90's feel to it.

As for Star Trek...I can't speak for anyone else but I'd be open to it. What do you guys think:http://replygif.net/i/782.gif

(Sorry...I love me some Star Trek gifs )

Back to the Topic:

Is it true that Amber Glenn and Karen Chen are skating the exact same program music? I know Amber will be in Juniors and the Karen will be a senior but isn't there a chance both will be at JWC? U.S. Nationals? Seems like someone within the Fed should be able to communicate within the team to prevent such occurances. This just seems completely avoidable to me. Maybe it's not a big deal to some but it sure does bug me.

Karen Chen USA
SP
LP On My Own from Les Miserables; choreo by Cindy Stuart

Amber Glenn USA
SP Feelin' Good, performed by Simone
LP On My Own from the Les Miserables soundtrack

I think that S/K themselves don't believe their direct competition is H/B but only see I/Z infront of their eyes. I also agree it's most probably H/B at this point, and I even doubt this at times...I really look forward to H/B's music choices.
The Swan Lake choice for me is more of an attempt to show once again that his new team is the descendant of his old team, considering how SK enter they ice in the way IK did, and use all the off ice and kiss n cry tricks IK used. But it looks more like an attempt to get fans back, to have the russians ( who think that Swan Lake was historical) by their side. I'd wish for a new team to avoid such comparisons, especially when there is no I/K to compare with anymore. But it seems to me, and I can't be really objective about it, that they want to be discussed, and be 'competitors' to their exes.
