Poor Ashley? Please...she was scored generously here (uninspired 2 footed skating, no choreo, no 3-3). Poor Rika is more like it.

Yes, I would place Rika second after Kaetlyn. Kaetlyn had a wobble on the 2A but she didn't put her foot down, and she was strong across the ice.
Mai was really good with jumps and footwork,:agree: I like her better than Satoko, great future but she needs to come across as less juniorish.

a different hairstyle might be helpful. But wow, her skating skills and jumps are superb.

Poor Rika, true. But Rika doesn't have a chance for the final. I think Ashley is quite entertaining, so I really would like to see her at the final. But each to their own.

The other Chinese ladies were surprisingly good too, though lacking a bit in energy and choreography didn't do them justice, especially Li Xiangning. Promising!
. Sad for Karen, mad for Rika, smitten by Mai and Zijun. Lena must be gifted with a humongous reserve of willpower and positive energy.

Well I stayed up to watch skating...fell asleep during the warm up of Ice Dance and woke up to the zamboni after Ladies. I should have just gone to bed and caught replays. Oh my aching neck.

She does need a makeover, more Mao-ish sophistication, but boy, can she skate...that Camille St Saens wasn't the easiest piece to skate to, but she kept up with it!
