I believe I read somewhere that Patrick has already successfully landed the quad toeloop in practice numerous times... can anyone confirm?
Without it, he is already such a talent but when he masters that jump WATCH OUT!![]()
It's always a thrill to see new talent on the horizon. We are spoiled here in Canada to have such a history of producing great male skaters. Patrick will have his work cut out for him. I look forward to seeing him at the Canadians.
How come there is not many good female skaters from canada?
and for those wondering, yes he can do a quad toe. I seen it on video a year ago. You have to be very smart these days about what goes in the program and the risk involved. Missing even one jump has a large affect on the score of the entire program, it's not just the -3 GOE and -1 Fall.
IMO, "success tends to breed success". For example, the US has always been strong (or at least successful) in the ladies event, and comparatively weak in pairs and dance, so good female skaters went into singles (think Kristi Y). Canada doesn't have the kind of success in ladies singles that is necessary to bring in more talented women to that discipline.
rather than figure skating for both boys and girls. Why is it that there are no hugely successful singles skaters from Canada when there is is an ice rink in almost every city, town and village in Canada, 75% of the NHL is Canadian, and yet there really aren't a lot of hugely top level figure skaters from Canada, aside from ice dance and pairs currently. I would think that a country so rich in tradition with ice skating would be having extraordinary success in figure skating.
Hmm, I really like his skating. I know that we should not compare too much - but he reminds me a bit of Lambiel, the deep soft landing on his jumps (though Chan's jumps are currently way better than M. Lambiel's), the spins fast and original, excellent upper body movement, fast across the ice... I hope we will see much more of him and I also hope that he will succeed with the quad and all of the other jumps.

Chan´s program is a copie of Lambiel´s Zebra.....
He is good, really good but i hope that he contract a coreograph because i imagine to him win next Olympic Games with "Tosca" and "Godfather" of plushy![]()

Um, then you must have not seen his other programs. Why don't you check out his SP? Although I don't think this four season is even THAT similar to Lambiel's.
