Edit: I started this comment based on what I read in yours but most of it is just directed towards anyone reading it)There is nothing pointless about Plushy's arms and hands. Oh, no. Not Evan, again. That's twice tonight. Those two guys are quite different in style, to say the least. My country's commentators aren't exactly Belinda Noonan. Speaking of Belinda, I caught her version of the men's programs at Beijing and it was like watching a different Olympics. Super analysis. No snark. No propaganda. Back to Evan in the black/snake unitard designed by Vera Wang to cut off blood flow . . . where was I? In order to have superior artistry, you have to have some to begin with. That whole mess of an OG was debunked years ago and it turned out the judges liked only one thing about Evan - his spins. Evan is the one who called a guy a loser if he didn't do a quad in his program. So despite getting injured before the OG and not chancing a quad, I had little sympathy for him because he had an obnoxious attitude. Did I care Plushy went on the offensive yelling about USFS? Nope. He was right. Figure skating was in the toilet in my country compared to where it was in the 90's.
Ask yourself this - what would Trusova be skating like today were she with Plushy all this time? Honestly? I think Plushy is too artistic for her and she just wants to jump. He knows there are two sides of a coin to becoming a great skater, alas, I do not believe she cares. I know you like her, but surely in seeing Plushy's skating, and her skating, you can see a world of difference and why he achieved a type of rockstar status, so to speak.
No, it was the judging at Russian Nats 2020, I bet you anything that if her skating clean with still superior tech content hadn't been underscored to the point that she realized her Olympic team spot could be in jeopardy she would have stayed with Plushenko.
She left Eteri the right way in the correct window with nothing bad said about her and she returned with no drama either. Unlike all the others who have left and/or returned. But if I recall correctly Plushenko wanted her to commit to several years but she had only intended to go for a year at first and did not want to commit to several more years, especially considering Russian Nationals 2020.
And didn't she focus on "artistry" to the point of training across the city with someone so she could get extra time working with a dancer? She worked so hard. I'm getting sick and tired of this narrative that she doesn't focus on improving to skate like other people's ideal of components.
Personally I've always like her programs, in fact this year they are the some of the best she's had, but it was cool to see her skate to such typical lyrical short program last year. I always knew she could. Doing a quad or multiple quads or a 3 Axel is hard. Skating to music like that is pretty easy. I know people will jump all over this and try to say that's not true but I think they are deluding themselves. People's opinions are subjective and the judges scores were totally rigged to put Anna and Kamila each with a significant error above her in December 2020.
Sasha has always skated to the music, if you don't like her skating that's fine. It is subjective opinion but no one should pretend it is objective fact. I watch Sasha's programs all the time, the other ladies not so much. And it's not because of the quads necessarily although that's part of it otherwise it would not be her SP programs that I watch just as much. It's because of everything she does. Sasha just has the it factor, like Yuzuru. And remember how there's people who despise his skating and try to say he's "boring". That's why I comment obliquely about what I think of other skaters' skating because I never want another fan to feel the way I do when I read the negative comments this forum heaps on Sasha.
Everyone always tries to say Sasha does not have "this", she doesn't have "that. Honestly what would you (anyone reading this) say if someone gave their true negative opinions of the your favorite skater all the time. Wouldn't you get tired of it if it was only their programs of the season that you could stand to watch? And do not mistake me, I'm not saying that specific performances by other skaters are not appealing to me too, just that Sasha's are always re-watchable.
I want to make it very clear to anyone reading this who has ever said things along the lines of: Sasha is a jump robot, she skates through the music, no artistry etc, that there are many people who love watching her skating so those comment are by the very existence of those who prefer to watch Sasha's skating proved to be false.
