2024 South Korean Figure Skating Championships

Found the timestamp for your listening pleasure
@4everchan You'd better be bleeding from your ears my good sir
Well, I am a bit relieved.

The beginning is normal... it's just the theme (La Campanella is another caprice, here, it's the 24th Paganini Caprice's theme which does indeed belong there)...

Of course, it's the main theme, then VAR 18 and then the Finale which is also a variation on the main theme including a brief Dies Irae moment... but that's not an unexpected cut. Nothing I would approve but I was so scared that I survived this :)

Thanks for sharing it with me .

Here is la Campanella for your ear bleeding pleasures (it's indeed another piece, still a Paganini Caprice, transcribed by Liszt.)

Not happy with the lack of jumps, it shows that his ankle is not recovered

How do we get the ages of the final two flights? Final two were impressive and the final flight was awesome.
There's a person on another site who posted the SP starting orders with birthdates (Note: I cannot guarantee that all dates are right), so here they are ordered by SP results of the top 12 girls:

Jiyu Kim - 2011/03/30
Gunhee Kim - 2010/07/13
Jiyoon Lee - 2010/05/22
Harin Jang - 2011/06/18
Doi Cha - 2011/01/07
Hyewon Joo - 2010/12/23
Inkyong Park - 2009/01/08
Chaeeun Jeon - 2010/03/09
Hayoung Park - 2011/02/28
Jihyo Kim - 2010/03/26
Nayoung Yu - 2010/02/18
Sena Park - 2011/05/11

Eun chérie I had enough jump cactusing with Inkyong today let's have nice clean jumps I don't care it's just practice

Ooh Seunga's using Mozart for her free

Shazam tells me it's Piano Concerto No.23 in A Major

Just saw the FS protocols and Jiyu's step-out+hand down on the flip was called as a fall (which is kind of understandable, but probably wouldn't have been called as a fall by all technical panels). It likely didn't change too much about the end result, at best she would have gotten silver (one less point deduction and maybe slightly higher PCS would have done it).

The bigger problem for her is that she's getting full-blown edge calls on her Flip - Does she have a 3Lo? If so it might be smart to replace the 3F for now. Unfortunately for Jiyu, the flip is likely to be the mandatory solo jump in the Jr Short program next season, so she can't avoid it then.

Protocols are up? Damn I forgot to check because I was too busy with practice... Thanks for letting me know

Meanwhile it's funny that the Daegu kids (Minkyu and Jiyu) both have edge issues but the edge in question is the opposite

I think Seunga's cuts are okay but you are the expert so
i will trust you on this one ;) it's 5am and i need to sleep :) I will not be watching Korean Nationals though I loved watching the ranking competition earlier on. It's Euros and Canadian Nationals next week and I am afraid I will be overdosing on figure skating so I am saving my streaming endurance for next week...

Aww, I understand but Minkyu and Hangil are going to miss you

It kind of is funny - Some skaters just have a natural preference for one edge over the other, and I guess some coaches just don't really know how to correct that early on? Like, at Jiyu's age it might still be possible to get the Flip onto a flat-ish edge, but maybe that could have been worked on earlier?

It's also pretty funny because some people have been comparing Jiyu to Kaori due to her ferocious speed and huge Axel, but they also have the exact opposite edge issue. 😂
