2025 Four Continents Rhythm Dance

YES!! Piper and Paul rightly beat Madison and Evan by 1 point. Chock/Bates definitely appeared sluggish in their RD here compared to what they presented at the Grand Prix Final. Gilles/Poirier displayed more speed and better security in their elements here.

Team Lajoie/Lagha definitely made the right choice by maturing the look and fit of his costume making them look more like a senior team. It was the best they skated that RD this season and rightly in the top 3.

they were so fast and sharp.... even better than they were at nationals.

i agree. Zach is such a stud now... :)

Just level 1 Pattern Dance for Piper & Paul? :scratch2: Have they got higher level before this season? 🤔
up to level 4(at Nationals at least... perhaps somewhere else)
:)

David Molina and Judy Blumberg... not gonna help

In the protocols, their Pattern Dance has been upgraded to level 2, phew!! :points:

In fact PSt2 is the highest anyone's getting in this competition. I swear I saw a PSt3 during the provisional marks (can't remember who), but it has been downgraded in the final marks.

Finally, I am really loving some shakeup in the ice dance standings! From Lopareva/Brissaud’s silver at Europeans to these RD standings, it’s a real delight to see! The competition itself was getting so boring with its predictability in the standings; it’s never exciting to see the same skater/team win everything.

Right, this was a strict judging/tech panel too; they certainly were not throwing out high scores like they were candy.

well... i am just glad Piper and Paul redeemed themselves after the GPF disaster. I wish it didn't have to go through another Paul's sacrifice... poor Fabbri and Ayer, at their first ISU senior champs...making such a major mistake. I hope they do better in the free.

Chock and Bates were good but didn't have the speed and sharpness both top Canadian teams had and I guess that mattered in the end...
Judges really got into Piper and Paul in the last couple elements, they outscored the Americans on both the lifts and choreo sequence, which is a place where traditionally, Chock and Bates own everyone.

I'm no judge but Piper's arms and the changes in position during the lift were really, really impressive as well as fun, and while C/B usually reign over the choreo sequence their RD is not the best vehicle for them to do so, in my uninformed opinion

For all that Piper and Paul did they don't have much of a lead which tells you how good and or how the judges favor Chock and bates. Chock and bates can skate better so while a "win" in the RD for the Canadians the small lead says a lot. how CB willl be hard to beat in the FS

CP were solid but I don't think they can compete with LALA.. It wasn't really close in my opinion. Buut I do wonder how LaLa will do against the French, the Brits and even the Italians. Is it time for a change???

I will be blunt. I was at worlds last year. I don't think Chock and Bates are that great. They won worlds because the judges sank Piper and Paul in the RD. Do not forget Piper and Paul won the Free dance.

Piper and Paul have always been FD skaters. The fact that they won the RD here is HUGE even if the margin is small. I do not expect them to win the event but if they do, I will be pleased.

Regarding Lala, their RD here scored higher than all RDs at Euros but the Italians'
and considering the tech panel was harsh, it's a good sign.

I think the Italians, Lithuanians and Brits are on a downward trajectory while LaLa, the French and the Finns are moving up.

I love you Piper and Paul, but what on Earth are you wearing?!

Ah, the music started, and suddenly everything made sense. They are wearing beachwear for the Beach Boys. But, the outfits are older than the music.

To be honest, I'm underwhelmed. I was expecting something more fun than that.

Sorry, but that programme wasn't good enough for a partnership as good as they are. They deserve to be given something better to work with than that.

I can see them going behind Marjorie and Zach.

WHAT?! They go into the lead?! :jaw:

I love them, and I want them to win (as I always do!), but I am amazed.

The outfits are very much of the same time period as the songs…unlike Turkkila/Versluis.

I'd have said Piper and Paul's outfits were more 40's or 50's in design. But, the more I think about it, the colours were definitely more colourful than you would have got in those earlier decades. So, maybe a 60's update of an older design.

But, even if I did find the programme underwhelming, the main thing is that they're leading. I just hope they hold on come the Free. And that Marjorie and Zach can have a great FD and make it a Canadian 1-2.

It would be a dream if Emilea and Vadym could come through to the join the Canadians on the podium. But, even I will admit that that is asking a bit too much.

Oh, the joys of having your own personal favourites! :)

Well.
Just came to admit Paul's face in KnC was my face hearing the score
I'm way too jaded to hang onto false hope sponsored by winning RD "juicy carrot" dangled by judges, but I'm letting myself to have 5 minutes of happiness and repeated watch of that RD :)

PS. @Ichatdelune - I hope you are having a blast out there, as you deserve!!!

I just watched Piper and Paul. The costumes are fab, the colours are great and I've loved that FD since I first saw it, but they've upgraded it again. The split jump was HUGE and the rotational lift was so much fun.

More than aynthing else in FS I want the judges to finally give them their due.

When I was watching last night, my stream froze at the beginning of Chock and Bates’s RD, so I completely missed their twizzle sequence in real time, but caught it on the review of some of their elements before they received their scores. The same result happened when I tried to rewatch on the replay. Ugh, of all the times for the stream to freeze! Madi and Evan were kicking up a lot of snow through their turns and edges and there were noticeable balance checks, such as Evan’s 2nd twizzle, which was an indication that they were not as smooth or sharp here as they are capable.

Some of their commentary after their dance was head-scratching: “Never looked better.” Huh, they were much better than this at the Grand Prix Final in December!

Lajoie/Lagha just continue to improve and their scores steadily go up. They are really setting themselves up very nicely to be the 4th team in the world and right there should any team in the top 3 stumble. They are technically more sound and reliable and skate bigger than Fear/Gibson. With the costume change for Zach, they are now presenting their RD with a much better, more mature style that the judges will respond more warmly to.
