I think Zhenya could've won the SP but TBH I do agree there is a general gap in the FS. Zhenya's FS isn't as good as his SP. I think Gummenik winning today is relatively fair. Slightly closer SP and a bit more conservative scoring in FS still would have it really close. I don't think it's a robbery.

I think Zhenya could've won the SP but TBH I do agree there is a general gap in the FS. Zhenya's FS isn't as good as his SP. I think Gummenik winning today is relatively fair.

Considering the tech panel was very strict today I think Gumennik's 4S should be called. But it doesn't matter anyway.

First time watching Russian Nationals in years. General thoughts: (1) I always enjoy how many 4L's the Russian men do, (2) I've never watched Matvei before but he had the emotional moment of the night, (3) Danielian is a great performer--he paid the most attention to his actual program, (4) Someone get Mozalev a better program--really enjoy his skating in general, (5) Peter is by far the most polished of the jumpers in the field. They made the right choice for the Olympics.

Agreed, I would like a clean skate but with his PCS and high value quads this isn't highway robbery or anything. It's just frustrating to know it was going to be this way because of silly ISU stuff.
