Can someone please explain the offence at Jeremy's planned exhibition? I would not personally make a difference between - hypothetically - a man skating to music where a lady sings about opporession of women in certain parts of the world, a straight man skating to a song about the oppression of gay people, a white guy skating to a song about the oppression of the Roma, etc. I don't actually have anything against any of those hypothetical scenarios, and I wonder if those who consider Jeremy's program in poor taste, would also think so of those hypothetical programs. Granted, the timing of the program isn't lucky in relation to the Charleston events, but still, isn't skating one of the vehicles of drawing public attention to topical issues, regardless of whether the skater is of the same race and sex that the song tells of?
